THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I see that they are slow as dick. But I mean for a job like cutting a series of .050 slots into a die.
It makes sense to only use them when needed. But seeing what one can Do got me thinking.

Like anthony said before, a broach or some shit. You can order a broach for anything but obviously like you're thinking you can walk up to a EMD and just make one. But it would take awhile and the EDM probably wont be the only machine you use to make the part. If it's something you can order for example the broach for, order it, broach all the shit mad fast and it's done for a bunch.

I'm no expert either and don't really give a shit but you probably know that anytime you want something machined with EDM it will be expensive, that's all. It's good at removing small amounts of metal accurately :dunno: I'm not sure where it gets complicated.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If you type edm parts in to google there's about a billion examples of where EDM is about the only thing you could use. Then just figure there's stuff not as extreme where ya you might be able to choose between one or the other.

Truth. The edm room is still working on the same part as when I was interviewing. So 7 or so days. Ill get a pic Monday when I go back. It's kind of crazy how accurate it is in the right hands doing a specific job.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The mini baja team here ordered all prebent/prenotched tubing for their entire buggy. They had already built pretty much the whole thing out of DOM but just half ass welded it. So they're new design is exactly the same I guess. Like has a bunch of miter joints and shit all over it. Then they used to have control arms that you can fit a tube insert in for a 3/4" heim, now they have tubes that have a 3/4" ID and are just going to butt weld nuts onto the end of it.

I'm no expert, and maybe it doesn't matter because they're basically go carts but.. actually I don't care either way. The only thing that's funny is they have no one to weld it. They're dead set on having it TIG'd and not to toot my own horn, because I suck, but I probably weld a good amount better than any of these kids across the board but wouldn't want to weld it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

unless it has already been done, expect to do the IP, injectors and glowplugs i can tell ya mine are very tired, good news is injectors and glowplugs are very cheap for a IDI, IP not so much and i havent looked into a lift pump yet, brakes ujoints ect should also be on the list

It doesn't seem like it'd be to bad to do. The pump was done 50k ago according to the owner..

That is where I learned to TIG weld.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I know a guy who does custom exhausts, I bet he'd hook you up.

Ya they can learn and someone will they just dont have anyone really almost there. At wentworth mini baja went away for awhile and these kids brought it back so there's no one there to give any advice/pass down any skills.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Holy Effff! I just googled one of those part numbers, and the cheapest I could find one of those parts was $135 for a single tail lamp!

Yep, which is unfortunate. I knew they didn't have a team for a while, and that lack of passed down knowledge can really be a killer.
