Seriously dude. I know a shop local that could have done it for you over the weekend.
If not this, I literally would have done it for beer/pizza plus materials costs. I could have sworn I offered to when you asked who to have do it, but I couldn't find it when I looked, so there's a chance I forgot to hit post or something.

You would need someone else to do the ECU tune, but the wiring harness shit you had done sounded incredibly simple.

Ross, screw the 5.3L and 6.0L go for the 6.2L. (I'd say 7.0L but we all know realistically that price ain't going to happen)

What's the 6.2 again, LS3, LS4?

I was thinking about it, but I'm worried the extra power of a 6.0 will kill the aw4.
Why keep the AW4?
The beauty of the 5.3/6.0 is you can get them cheap. Can you get a 6.2 for around $1k?

IDK. There is a badly wrecked Camaro (rear bumper at the b pillar wrecked) on my way to work that has "6.2L loaded A/C $4000 whole car" or something like that on the windshield. So my guess is maybe? Probably not as good as a 5.3l but they did come in a lot of vehicles even Caddys.

Not worth it to me,th400 is uber cheap and easy. Simple and compact, no wires or anything just toss a full manual valve body in it

So wait. You'd ditch going with an AW4, to go to a non-overdrive FMVB auto, but you don't want to consider doing a manual valvebody in an OD auto?

Realizing that if your concern is retrofitting, an overdrive trans is probably closer lengthwise to the AW4 setup...

700R4/4L60E can both be fitted with manual valvebodies. Just don't be ghey and do a standard pattern. If you wanted to shift that much, just put a manual in it.

I've also helped install/rebuild 4 TH400's in the TR Motorsports car this year, and Timmay @ LII cracked his at the most recent race. Not impressed.

Figure out what your needs & wants are before you do anything. ****, just wheel the whole damn rest of the season and let it be. There's a reason I took so long starting/executing my build, and that's because I did a shit-ton of homework on every single part of it (and why I did or didn't need it) before committing to anything. Choosing something because it's cheap or easy is rarely a good deciding factor when it comes to building a rig that you intend to keep and enjoy for a while.

LQ4 with with 5.3 heads and a tune and it will be a monster. LS2 with 5.3 heads if you got the extra cash. Throw a built 400 or NV4500 (and learn to shift :D ) behind it and you'll be smoking John and Colin.

Plus didnt you buy a 4bt? And i use 5th gear on the trail all the time. So od is something that i wouldent call usless. Plus its kinda like 4wd, but not really. But in the way it totaly ruins your fuel economy.

Dude, I heard overdrive KILLS fuel economy, I turn mine off on the reg.

That extra $3k would go a long way in a 6.0

that's how I'm thinking. I just want a reliable wheeler right now. but a couple years down the road I might revisit the power department.
