Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have been wheeling for 2.5-3 years on v8 zj tie rods without bending a single one, and I've tried...

I hear those are way stronger than my banana'd 1.5" ODx 1/4' wall dom tie rod

i bent a 5/16 wall 1.25" od dom tie rod, straghtend it, then sleeved it with .125 wal dom and bent it all again, im thinking the stupis 2x2x.25 box tube tie rod aint so stupid after all

just bring a 2" wrench to adjust!

My only concern (other than it looks kinda dumb) is if you perhaps hit a rock it could turn the tie rod and loosen the jam nuts a bit. probably not an issue.

I bet if you plug welded that outer sleeve over that tie rod it wouldnt have bent again. as easily anyway.

Note to self: If it sounds like your shocks are loose, it's them making noise. Passenger side bolt was practically falling out. It's weird my jeep makes no noises now

which facebook wheeler told you this?

when my jeep stops making a noise I look in the rearview to see if something fell off.

Yeah, get an Aussie locker. You drive on the road, the Aussie will be easier on your tires. Or if you're balling, arb in the rear, and save for the same in the front.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Balling lol......
Im working 25 hours a week after school. At 8 bucks take home an hour. Far from it. I think you may be right.
Is it perdictable like a welded rear?

I never had an issue until I Aussie'd the front too. And then in 4 wheel if I put it In park on a hill it would roll a few inches. But that wasnt a common thing, only happened a few times, but I've heard he same from others with auto lockers f/r.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ah I see,
I thought about it last night, and made up a list of what I want for my jeep after wheeling it some more.

Double jointed lowers.
Unibody plating
T case skid
Gas tank skid.
V8 Tie rod.
1 newer KM1 to match the one I have now.
aussie for the rear.

Am I missing anything major?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just weld the rear and FIRI, spend the money on a front locker that you save from welding the rear and carry some spare front shafts. A welded rear is harder on the tires, but you're running beat 33's that are a dime a dozen anyway, and it really isn't that bad on the street. Other than that it sounds like a decent plan, but I'd suggest doing the skids/tie rod before anything else.

I think your right
Ken not this week but next can you get me a v8 tie rod also if you see a gas tank skid plate for a 97+ xj let me know
And yeah my tires are beat.
I'm looking for a newer km1 for the front

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dd'ing a welded rear sucks. Chewed up about 30k worth of tread in 6 months.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's why I refuse to weld mine no matter how many people tell me I should...

(and I found this at the junkyard a few weeks ago. 29 spline LSD with good condition clutches, hell yeah)
