THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

griffin radiators kick dick right? they have a radiator meant for ls conversions for older camaros and chevelles that look like they will fit perfectly. even have some combos with a 16" electric fan and shroud for what I think is a decent price.

I have a 31 x 19 griffin with twin 12" (I think) fans.

Kept my temps between 160=190 the entire race.

Works tits.

I'm not sure of anyone else that sells them online.

What would I be looking at for 2 bumps? I was debating going with poly's budget airbump things and welding some cans into the center of the coil like you/Ross did.

I'm looking at like 25x19. I figure if it cools Ls powered chevelles, it should cool an Lq powered j10. they also offer 2 different core thicknesses. they are all 2 row, ones just most dookin' for like 20 bucks more.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

They're not airbumps, just a cheap aluminum thing that you can screw a rubber bump into.

Then I can get airbumps later on down the road.

I know but they're gay and you should just buy air bumps.thank my later ;)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I looked into timbrens a great while back. iirc for like 30 bucks more you can have a nice pair of air bumps.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My old Radflo airbumps are still on the back of my XJ, actually. They were seized in the cans with no way to get to the top of them so I put off trying to extract them, and ended up just forgetting about it. Wasn't gonna buy 6 shiny new Fox things and have two old Radflo bumps somewhere.

They still hold pressure, never leaked, and the strikers are a little banged up but I don't doubt that they'd still be functional.

The hardest part about the entire process would be getting them out of the XJ. The stainless set screws that hold them in place are stripped & seized in the cans and everything's probably buried in the dirt by now. I don't want money for them, with the amount you'd have to give me to actually take them out you could just buy new ones, but if someone wants to have a go at it...

The guy at my local truck/spring shop had no problem opening a Timbren kit on the shelf, selling me the bumps out of whichever one I needed for $20 each, and getting replacement ones from Timbren to fill out an 'incomplete kit'.

Can you cut the whole tube/section of the XJ out and just give it to me?

They're underneath the rear frame rails, like this:

Which with no axles etc under it, has just been sitting on the ground for over a year now. Not fun.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my foas were so stuck in my cans after 8 months and barely any driving. I could remove the clamping bolt too. I pryed the can apart as much as I could, and it still required a hammer and half a can of pb blaster. that and the little fill hole Allen plug on top is smashed to shit now too.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm just not sure what to do for bumpstops up front or out back.

I could thread in another bullshit bumpstop and have it leave the vehicle again and resort back to metal/plastic. I kind of need a simple solution since I have to redo my shock mounts this weekend.

I have to notch the frame out back right where the bumpstop sits in order to get the shocks to sit where I want them to. Then I figure I'll build up a platform on the axle for the bumpstop to hit, and build a platform off the frame behind the notch that the bumpstop can bolt to.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Those shaft-mount ones might not be a bad interim solution then. The spring rate on those is a bit higher than the ones I used.

Gonna require something more than the usual bolt-welded-to-the-axle-tube mounting though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Today sucks. My work email is down so I can't do anything, however my phone still gives me a notification whenever I get a new message. So I know I've gotten at least 10 emails today but I just get to sit here and think about how much stuff is piling up that I can't work on yet.
