intact :lecture:

oh ya? see below

buy it and cummins/6speed swap Herman? :eyes:

I'd already been thinking about it. But I dunno, probably just gonna buy a (expensive as hell) reman motor and know all is well. The thought of a "brand new" motor in my truck does make me very happy. And from what I've read, putting a ctd in my truck requires either a SAS/lift (nope) or a body lift/cowl (nope) because the CTD is so tall.

Impact Blue is the technical name of one of the colors available from the factory :lecture:

thanks for the backup bross

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

about as much as that truck

about 4100 if I had a core, but I'm pretty sure my core isn't worth any more than it's weight in scrap.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If it turns out to be worthless as a core you should make a coffee table out of it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I bet the sheetmetal on that thing is 3 colors under the flat black :gee: not that that's a problem, I guess.

Bets on it needing a clutch, not just a slave cyl? Those are external slave IIRC so there is no reason he wouldn't have done one on it if that's all that was wrong with it.

Thats what I was thinking, but as long as its not too rusty its not bad. Even if it needs a complete clutch kit, a stock/stock HD setup isnt too bad.

You can't JUST buy a slave cylinder. Well, you can, but there's really no way of knowing which one failed because never of them leak when they go. Trust me, I've replaced the whole setup twice so far. Dealer one lasted 50k miles so I went with a SACHs one.

My HD kevlar disc and stock pressure plate was only about $200 with new pilot and throwout bearings.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Once I have some dough I'm going to call a couple of the places that I've seen rebuild them and see how much more they'd charge to use lbz rods, shouldn't be much if any difference. Still not positive that's what I'm gonna do, but it's what I'm leaning toward at the moment.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah. Might be more weight efficient to just use (remaining intact) connecting rods to make a few badass lamps

just call a place and see what they say about the core, they probably will just pull off the good parts that are still good and melt down the old block. at least thats what they did with the head from my xj

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah it's worth asking, but just so I'm not disappointed for now I'm going with the assumption that they won't give me anything for it.

Sitting at Cleveland airport, at the Great Lakes Brewing Co brewpub.

In addition to outstanding beer, they have a sausage sampler appetizer featuring 4 different local sausages. Fantastic. And one of them is SPICY AS HELL. I've been eating small pieces of it for the last 15 minutes. A nice change from typical airport fare...I'll have to remember this one, somehow I missed it last time I went through CLE.

Spent this morning at a place that makes badass cranes...overhead gantry stuff that'll move 250 tons. Pretty cool to walk through their fab shop.

way cooler than Tim Hortons

I'm still trying to picture something that weighs 500k lbs, nevermind the food.

The lifting hook alone was bigger than me.

This one is a 90-ton:

for servicing power plant equipment...turbines, rotors, etc.

The I-beams for the 250-ton were about as tall as me too (not that that's saying much).

(edit: they build up to 500-ton but they didn't have any to show us at the moment)

Shipping to 01550?

If you have to ask...

I thought it was interesting that they use their cranes to build their cranes. Kind of a chicken & egg sort of scenario.

I was at a place yesterday that makes sand processing equipment for foundries...basically they make the machines that mix the sand and other media for making casting molds. Example: they have 28 machines (with our motors on them) running at GM Saginaw that produce the molds for casting Cadillac engine blocks. Also a pretty neat place to visit.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There's a group in the corner, traveling together, that absolutely wins the award for the most fat people I've ever seen gathered with a common purpose. If they're all sitting near each other on the airplane, I predict some problems with weight distribution.
