THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

DON'T LIE TO ME COLIN.

In all honesty, it's not a totally awful idea. Maybe something boring like a corolla would be better financially but I don't want to drive my dad's truck indefinitely, and he's gonna want/need it on Saturday with the snow anyways. So it wouldn't exactly upset me to buy something like this thing.

Rob- maybe if the dude's available during the day tomorrow I'll call out of work or something and go check it out. Maybe we can see each other 2 days in a row!!!

The best thing financially is just borrow a vehicle if you can until you can fix it.

Not always the easiest/most fun but whatever.

Like I said I'd be tempted to buy it too :D

Well, to be clear- the best thing financially is to not drive so goddamn much. But realistically- that isn't gonna happen. SO. Might as well have a cheap ass vehicle that'll be CHEAP to fix if it ever needs fixing, and rack the miles up on that. Plus, never hurts having multiple vehicles available. PLUS, I could always sell it down the line so it's not totally throwing money out the window.

Hopefully he emails me back before I allow myself to think you're right about it not being the best idea financially

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I bought a cheap cherokee once, best thing I ever did

I've bought a bunch of cheap cherokees. I'd say I've had 50/50 luck on whether or not they turned out to be smart purchases

side note- the stupid email is sitting in my outbox, it still hasn't sent. Been over a half hour. How's this guy supposed to know he's supposed to sell his jeep to me if he can't even get the email?!? :bawl:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

**LAST and MOST IMPORTANT - This vehicle runs. It is great when it does. However, over the past year I have been having some issues with it suddenly stalling and dying down - it will either kick right back on with a jab of the gas and the clutch in, start right up after it stalls and sometimes it can take an hour or so to start again. I have been told so many things it may be, I have given up. I still feel it may a fuel issue. It has been tested at Sullivan Tire, and at another garage in my area. Nothing came up wrong with the codes.

...from the listing. Thoughts? GO!

My first thought is CKP maybay? :dunno:

I love everything about my $750 XJ except I think the crank sensor finally took its last dump. Unplugging it and plugging it in again doesn't work anymore.

The only times I've ever changed a crank sensor (twice) have been when I already had the trans out...once when I forgot to unplug it and ripped the wires out, and once when I was putting the trans back in, didn't have the jack low enough, and broke it off on the frame rail.

Anyone know how much of a pain it is to do from the top on an '88?

You'd have to get it first, but a jab of the gas can keep it alive? That doesn't seem to make sense for CKP.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

true. IAC maybe? But I wouldn't think that'd fit if it sometimes takes an hour to get going again...

and Chris- I changed that on my 95, easy peasy.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

too bad it isn't a 98. I'd just take sensors off my rig and put them on this thing then when I figure out which one it is just swap it back and forth. No need to buy any new parts!!

I would think that too, but the jab the gas thing doesn't make sense. I'm betting on the throttle position sensor malfunctioning.

However he says he replaced them both so...probably a wiring issue - probably the one running to the CKPS melted to the exhaust or something. o2 senbsor wire could be damaged too

you can still swap them - it's a 94.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

are you guys finally seeing the light again?

Unless it floods itself somehow in him trying to restart it. My green xj would do that and I would have to wait like an hour to start it until I learned flooring it shut off the injectors while you start.

Nope

I mean I'm not saying I wouldn't drive my MJ on the road if I could get away with it, but I still enjoy it.

I wouldn't mind building a street-ish XJ though. 5.7 hemi, NV4500, 241, on D44s and 35s.
