Plugging the MTR was what I was talking about, but if I recall correctly, you stood around because you didn't know how to plug the tire/have a plug kit.

Nope, almost already have all my time off put in for, and I have a shit ton of expenses planned for this year. Trip to Key West in April for brothers bachelor party, 10 day trip back to FL in May for wedding/going back to the Keys (he decided to plan his wedding on my already planned/deposited trip to NC to dive Torpedo Alley, so I'm skipping his med school graduation to dive down there), another wedding in September. Then there is all the diving related crap I need to buy because I'm getting into tech diving, wreck trips, and I'm become a dive guide this year.

I don't know, maybe I'll get out again at some point in the future, but I have no clue when. This summer is already looking very booked.

:laugh: Yup I remember that. I had never had to plug a tire before.

Sounds fun. Hopefully you can make it out to something, hell just come to a M&G sometime.

like sam's on his XJ mounting to the bumper and to the jcr armor, except not swinging down all weird and swinging to the pass side, tire behind the driver side. i have some nice poly bushings from ruffstuff i'm gonna try out, if those suck i'll get some heims.

theres gonna be a lot more flex with the tire mounted on the drivers side swinging to the passenger side. I made my tire mount as close to the hinges as possible. not when closed, but when swung out. thats a ton of weight on that 1/4 panel guard. Mine flexed a little when opened.

and just do heims. the poly will flex too much (especially when mounted like you want)

and if you want it to swing out perfectly level the heims have to be mounted directly on top of eachother. so you will either need to make a bracket off the 1/4 guard coming straight backbehind the taillight, or make the bumper wrap around and stick out a little bit.

Best bachelor party I ever went to was in Key West. Stayed an extra day and even dated a girl I met there for about 6 months.

Just do like I've done and throw the 35" on top of the roof and strap it to the roof racks. Done

fine i'll get heims. when closed, i was gonna cut out a small piece of tube for the driver's side to rest on (like my old swingout had). and yea, the bumper is gonna wrap around on the bottom, i'll be folding the lower quarters.

Might be more work, but what if you sink a tube through the quarter and weld it to the D-pillar of your cage Adam? Weld the tube to the back of the quarter panel guard, sink it through the quarter when reinstalling the guard, then weld it to the D-pillar. Gusset it there as well.

Then just weld two tabs to the quarter panel where the tube hits it. Much more support.

I like colins idea. I did mine as easily as possible though.

And definately do heims. I used 7/8" but im sure 3/4 would be fine too. I wouldnt go much smaller methinks. I dont know how much stress they will see, thats just going by gut feeling. A 35" tire with some steel attatched to it isnt something you want to smash your rear hatch then bounce down the trail behind you.

i could do that too. my d pillar is sunk pretty far below the floor, i planned on tieng it into the bumper and shackle mount. i could add a piece of tube to gusset the upper mount pretty easily. i have a few ideas to throw together in the back, like tube running along the floor connecting the d pillars together and then notching out the hatch to fit two small pieces of tube running from that to the bumper, and i wanna try and run some tube under the seats and across the floor in the passenger area as well. lots of small things i want to do. priority is a pillar forward and rear tire carrier for now, then finish up the roof of the cage, and of course it it all in better. right now only the a and b pillars are tied in to the jeep. d pillars are just welded to the floor.

ya. i'll try and use the poly pieces to bolt into the hatch somehow to keep the carrier off it just in case. idk what the skin looks like in that thing, i'll have to take off the plastic and see if thats even possible.

Kate and I went snow shoeing up in NH right before new years.

Was pretty fun.

We were thinking about getting some and then realized how expensive they were.

We realized we probably wouldn't be doing it that often either. At least right now.

If theres even enough snow up North this weekend, Deanna and I are going to rent some. Job lot has some snowshoes for about 40 bucks a pair though. They probably arent super duper anthony hiker approved. But will probably be fine for the occasional trek into the woods like us. Probably will be super cheap towards the end of the season or maybe even now because who the hell would buy snow shoes when theres no snow? They had a ton of them too last time I was there.

Everything is on clearance right now... So much good deals on winter stuff. I got a $450 winter sleeping bag for $85 a few weeks ago at EMS.

If theres even enough snow up North this weekend, Deanna and I are going to rent some. Job lot has some snowshoes for about 40 bucks a pair though. They probably arent super duper anthony hiker approved. But will probably be fine for the occasional trek into the woods like us. Probably will be super cheap towards the end of the season or maybe even now because who the hell would buy snow shoes when theres no snow? They had a ton of them too last time I was there.

It all depends how crazy you want to go. I want to do the biggest mountains in the area in the winter eventually. The further from help you are, the better your gear needs to be.

It all depends how crazy you want to go. I want to do the biggest mountains in the area in the winter eventually. The further from help you are, the better your gear needs to be.

Yeah, no sweat dood. Even cheap ones will do good for low elevation and infrequent use. Certainly better than just boots.

Kate borrow her mother's snow shoes and I rented.

I specifically told the guy I had size 13 shoes and he said "no problem".

I put them on at the trailhead, and I had them maxed out and barely able to clip them on. The rear strap didn't even clear my ankle.

They fell off about 7-8 times during the day. So annoying.

I'll mention the sale thing to her, thanks Anthony.
