Anthony, I think you sais you wouldn't have much free time in Hawaii, but if you get a chance, go for a fast boat ride. http://www.wild-hawaii.com/index.php
A friend of mine is part owner of that company.

Saving 30lbs here and there can be huge, the fact is the heavier your rig is the shittier it will wheel

stop making fun of my jeep

Im a little concerned about how I'm going to run my rockers. I don't want anything hanging down.

Was thinking about making the rockers flat (one is already banged flat from a rock) then skinning them with some 3/8" plate on the outer edge. Run some tubing through the rockers to the frame. For door protection and to add a third dimension to the rocker I'll just bend up a tube to stick out a couple inches as high up on the rocker as possible

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why is it that CL people think they should get a really good deal because they might have to travel far to buy what I have? If I have what you want, then drive and get it. You obviously can't find it where you are. I should just lower my price because you have to drive some distance. Name one store that does that. Incredible sometimes the people I deal with. It does make me laugh though when some of them get butt hurt when I say No or they tell me about some other deal they can get and I tell then to go buy it. Ok done rant. Carry on people.

I totally try that every craigslist I see. Problem for you guys that don't cave is, it works.

Any of you guys know of a place that has "scrap" aluminum you can buy? Like an actual supplier of aluminum, turner can get aluminum but you have to order. I'm hoping somewhere will have some aluminum round stock on hand. Don't really care what diameter, just stuff to screw around with on the lathe.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

what wall thickness box tube did most of you guys use for your 2x6 rockers and or X-members? is .120 enough? or sould I look for something closer to .25?

im a little late to this party but iirc mine are 3/16,fwiw :)

BUT BUT BUT the heavier it is the more force is on the tires and the better traction you'll have!

might be true on paper but the real world says otherwise newb, ps i realy dont want to have to explain to the doosh in mod tech how cutting down spring stiffens em

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

the "BUT BUT BUT" was intended to show sarcasm :gee:

more weight means more traction till you throw slopes and slippery shit into the equation then it goes all to hell.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you're going to give Ross ideas for what to make the truss on his 14b hybrid front axle out of :twak:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

First.

I had high hopes of progress this past weekend but I feel like I didn't get much accomplished.

Those stupid bellhousing/trans bolts on my truck took and front brakes basically took all of Friday to finish up on my truck.

I did get the dash all painted up, wired up the gauges and O2 sensor, along with wideband gauge and calibration button/LED. Fitted up the center console cover over the shifters and cut it out for the t-case shifters.

I'm going to take some leftover 3" exhaust tubing and make two cupholders in the empty space on the console cover. It's something I always wish I had while rec wheeling
