Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

anyone have opinions on circuit breakers vs fuses?

Upgrading my cables and alternator, thinking about a circuit breaker instead of a main ANL fuse.

Definitely down to help clear land, although I don't think my ZJ has/will have much more business being back there than Ken's XJ did.

probably do a 33-35"+ tire kinda deal.

quite honestly. anything less stands no chance, and if you have less than 2 lockers, you pretty much have no chance either.

If there were some cool obstacles to make trails out of where a smaller rig would be fun on, i would, but its either lame shit, or crazy shit back there.

To those who work an office job- do you ever come in to work thinking it's going to be a normal quiet day, but there's a fire waiting to be put out? Today's fire is like a tire fire. Won't quit.

Pretty much what I figured from what I saw over the weekend, like I said I'm more than willing to clear shit and watch other people break their junk.

Almost daily for me, but that's kind of the nature of my job.

been there done that, except I didn't go in because I was still there from the previous evening. That wasn't much fun.

My tax return was just about twice what I estimated when I looked at my W2, which is awesome because until yesterday I didn't even think I was going to GET a W2 due to the shitshow of a company I was working for. I think the MJ, 5 ton, and house are about to get some goodies.

What do you expect when you just stop showing up for work?

Yes, I realize that they have to provide you with one.

It's more that the rest of the company was more of a badly planned disaster than I am. I know that's saying a lot.

For instance my buddy who still works there went unpaid for 8 months this year, and basically had to tell the owner of the company that he was running out of money and needed to be paid in 2 weeks or he'd be going to court to get his back pay. And they forgot to pay me for november and december 2011 until I made angry noises. And they never bothered to actually submit paperwork to the internal robbery service concerning my pay OR his pay for 2011, I still have no idea what they did with mine but they ended up fudging the paperwork so it looked like all my friend's pay from 2011 and 2012 was in 2012, ****ing him out of four figures or more worth of tax money because his income "doubled". The place is a god damn disaster, so I was floored when I got a W2 for 2012 at all.

6 of one half dozen of the other.

Some people like circuit breakers, others like fuses.

I went with the free 175A fuses that Ken stole from some mid-late 90s F250/350s.

Cheap if I ever need to replace them. I only ever popped it once when the alternator stud was shorted to the head.

Other than that, the fuse will almost never need to be replaced.

Pulled from my build thread:

Soon as I am done putting floors in mine, I will also be available to help whenever, though help probably consists of drinking your beverages, making bad jokes, and adding custom auditory braking feedback wiring to your custom wiring harness...

EDIT: oh wow, top of the second page... and yes, you are correct, the fuse + socket came from a mid 90s F150. I forget the exact year split, but there are two per truck along with a contactor, they are mounted on the firewall in the engine compartment on the passenger side, right about where the brake booster would be if you mirrored the whole truck.

I don't understand allowing your employer to not pay you for 8 months. I would absolutely be in court.

oh, I would have been too. I have no idea why he's even still working there. But then again, I walked out 10 months ago, so that goes without saying.

It's not at all the nature of my job, nor what I signed up for.

Sheep, what you describe is not unlike what I'm dealing with, just not Asia and nothing technical related.

I have 8 drivers that work for me that will call me 24 hours a day for solutions, and a customer that will do the same thing. This customer is better than most- I've had customers that were entirely reactive with how they managed their business, and would only contact me with problems that needed to be resolved yesterday and expect immeadiate solutions.

Again, it's the nature of transportation/logistics. Great way to learn how to think on your feet constantly.

ooo is it like the other unexpected fire that i have to put out where someone wakes up the wrong side of the bed and decides that all the problems they are created is caused by other people and if you try and tell them that its there problem and they are responsible to fix it they have a temper tantrum and tell everyone who reports to them that they need to stop all support work they are doing for your department so you miss due dates and try and make you look bad

thats always fun
