tell me how awesome those heleta cutting wheels are so i just go buy a shit ton of them.

they are wicked cheap compared to anything local. and orange, and i like orange.

I stopped buying them because it wasn't worth it. However much cheaper they are, is exactly how much shorter they last.

I'd rather buy a bunch of these:

for example. They do last 2.5 times longer. The Heleta ones seem to evaporate as you're cutting stuff.

Same with the flap wheels, the sandpaper isn't stacked nearly as thick and you run out of sanding surface a lot quicker.

Quality seemed to go downhill for me when they changed names from BulletIndustries to Heleta. At least that's when I noticed it. I still use some of their stuff though.

cool deal. i saw colins reccomendation and almost pulled the trigger on 100 of them but figured id ask about them.

im a fan of the dewalt xp wheels. i usually get them at lowes for like $3 each. but i figure i can definately find them cheaper and in bulk somewhere.

Right around when they changed is also right about the time that I started taking fabrication seriously instead of goobering shit together that worked. So my usage and expectations became a lot higher.

I guess their 14" chop saw blades have worked well for me in the past, but that might be because the chop saw doesn't get used all that much and you can wear a 14" wheel down a lot more before it becomes unusable.

Yep. Those ones definitely last the best outta any I've tried, so there's a reason they cost what they do.

seems like the going rate for them is $35 for a 25 pack of 4" and $40 for a 25 of 4.5"

still significantly cheaper than lowes prices.

And I doubt I'm going to have my MJ at nacfest. I haven't given up, but I have another trip to CA coming up for a week.

Lame, but I hear ya. I just scored another work trip next week too...more steel mills!

Apparently now that I've been to a handful of steel mills, I'm the 'steel mill guy' whenever any of our reps need someone to make a visit. Which is cool and all, steel mills are pretty badass, but not when I have a bunch of shit to do here.

Plus I had tickets for a concert on Monday (Joe Bonamassa, if there are any blues fans out there) that I can't go to now. I either have to fly out to Michigan late Sunday night after mother's day dinner, or at the buttcrack of dawn on Monday (first appointment in MI is at 10:00 AM).

Then it's two days in MI and two days back in Indiana again.

yup this project aint gonna happen, can barley get one of the bolts to budge and it honestly feels like its gonna snap, and if i was to get the bolt off i got 2 options to get the altenator out, first is to rebove upper rad hose and tstat housing, other is to remove ac compresser wich aint doin shit as theres not even a belt of it, a prime reason why i dont do this shit for a living

Just bought a coil-on-plug conversion kit off a guy on the SHO forum...uses Ford Focus plug boots and Lincoln Mark VIII coils, and comes with all the plugs & harness stuff to bring it to where the factory ignition coil sits. $150 shipped, not too bad, and it should play nicely with the Megasquirt controller.

The guy who developed that kit has 'em on a '94 SHO that runs 12's in the quarter, so it definitely works pretty well.

how much power do they get out of these fwd turdcanoes? and how to they make all the front wheel drive shit hold up? tranny, axles, suspension, etc. or do they just hope they get lucky and nothing breaks on their runs?

Most of these cars are track-ready at 2,700 lbs, if that helps.

The stock bottom end and valvetrain hold up fine to whatever you can give 'em...no one has ever managed to find the limit of it yet, although rod bearings tend to take a beatin'. Cams, turbo/supercharger (typically 8-12 lbs boost is pretty reliable), nitrous in some cases, and 400+ HP isn't unheard of.

A more common N/A build (which is probably the next route I'd go, after I get used to driving this thing) usually has some nasty cams, bigger throttle body/MAF (although I'd be deleting the MAF entirely and going to MAP), higher compression pistons, tuner, that sort of stuff. Those'll put 250+ HP to the wheels, which is just over 300 at the crank:

with a nice flat torque curve and HP made all the way to the top of the rev range (between 7500-8000 RPM).

I don't know what they do for transmissions or axles, I know there's some kinda upgraded Quaife limited slip unit, but I think these guys are pretty used to blowing up clutches and transmissions. :laugh:
