THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well it's a toss up.

I'd like to lose the stock front fenders and the inner fenders at the same time.

I don't want to do the engine cage with the stock inner fenders, because I'll just end up redoing it for coilovers in the future.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Maybe I'm just jaded (and exceptionally bitter today, for some reason), but to me this whole sport is about self-expression and trial and error. If I gave a shit about what anyone else wanted me to do, would I really be attempting to run a TTB 35 front end?

Word, I just want to build a piece of shit that barely runs and always breaks. That's my style and it's trendy as XXXX.

That rollup jobber that I have is pretty much the best thing I've found. Quiet, compact, organized, and easy as hell to transport wherever you need it. Every wrench from 1/4" to 1", every socket from 3/8" to 1", ratchet, extension, two screwdrivers, and an allen wrench set in something that takes up as much space as a foot-long sandwich.

I had a telescoping breaker bar with a ~4" extension built into it. Thing was about a foot long when collapsed and went out to two feet, and the extension was perfect for use as a lug wrench. That thing kicked ass and I'll be looking for another one when I assemble the toolkit for the next rig.

The rollup thing, that breaker bar, a hammer, lug nut socket, yoke socket (the 1-5/16" also serviced the pitman arm nut, and the 1-1/8" fit the tie rod castle nuts), spark plug socket w/universal drive, big adjustable wrench, a pipe wrench, vice grips, and a hub tool...that was enough to do 90% of all work on my rig. If I needed more than that, chances are whatever was wrong was beyond the scope of an immediate trailside repair anyway.

I always just bring dildos. EVERYBODY always brings tools, no one ever brings dildos. You can always borrow a wrench from a buddy but if ya need a dildo, you're XXXXed.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

chris, you remember where you grabbed the link from for that race at RC that was rally cars and ultra4 rigs? i just hung up with my buddy whos taking his group 1st gen RX7 out of retirement and he wants to run it there.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I would need a sawzall to get the bed off (welded to tube).

And I might ditch the stock front fenders at some point over the summer/fall.

But damn, that hood is always in the way.
seriously man. Fortunately you should be cutting a whole lot of it out to put a shaker on anyways...

I know who I'm going to when I need a double ended Hooker Alignment Device next

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Same thing with deciding what bullshit to carry with you. If you're cool with carrying a few hundred pounds of sockets and wrenches while your rig sounds like a train wreck going down the trail, so you can be "that guy" who has everything to fix everyone else's rig, more power to ya.

I like being "that guy." 5 minutes after pulling into NACfest I was loaning out some tools. Granted, I don't sound like a train wreck, at least I don't think I do.

I know the feeling. I lent out a lot of tools *and* parts off my jeep :laugh2:

If carrying a full tool set means I can spend 30 seconds loading tools into the jeep instead of a few minutes, and fix anything on most common rigs, I see no reason not to.

Now that the HVAC box is pulled - when do you need it? Gonna be out this way anytime soon? I'll be in the Hudson area sometime this weekend probably for another parts dropoff if that works for you, or I can drop it with anyone going to the 99 tomorrow.

I'm not sure. I don't think I'll be out that time any way soon.

Want to make a deal on bill's old jeep sometime this week? There are a few parts I would like off it. Did you say you have black/gray cloth seats?

Nothing worse than being stuck in the middle of nowhere with a broken jeep, stranded, with NO dildos.

Sure - what do you need off it again? I know plans changed after you discovered your mouse-customized wiring/interior and I'm not sure anymore.

I do, they are in my storage unit, came out of Bill's 97. I was going to make some barstools out of them at this point since I scrapped the 96 but they're certainly available for a trade.

I don't know what I'd do.

Am I the only one that finds it hilarious that that ONEtonxj dude on PBB can build a whole XJ buggy...

But can't figure out how to get his t-cases into low range?

Question: I want to set up dual monitors on my work computer. It has an Intel G41 Express Chipset. Do I need to buy a new video card in order to achieve this? If so, can you recommend an inexpensive one?

Does it have dual outputs already? I assume you already know how to set them up in the windows display properties dialog... if there aren't two outputs available you will probably need a second card.

It's got what, at least one PCIe x16 slot probably? Low profile or standard? Any chance it's got two open slots, so this would fit? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121488

If it's just a regular system with full height card slots and enough space I'd go for that one, but more compact systems may need other cards.

It's got either 2 or 3 open slots for the cards to go and there's plenty of room so I'd assume a standard card should fit fine.

Also, I have 2 monitors already that both use VGA ports. A card with 2 VGA outputs would be ideal for me.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'd probably grab that one after making sure there are two slots open in the right pattern. First step upon opening the package is to download the latest drivers for it from nvidia's website and throw the CD it came with in the microwave, though. Video drivers from ATI/nvidia get updated frequently enough that there's no reason not to.
