THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think its a decent idea, I believe trail gear or something like that sells them to replace the bushings in the leaf itself. Now that you mention it, I could probably use something like that too. My leafs/shackles seem like they bind up or something when flexing.

nothing binds up in my setup. i just want to make my leaf springs last as long as possible.

the main leaf bends pretty decent when at max flex. heres some pics when i had the 35s on it with the same leafs/shackles i have now. maybe the shorter shackles im making will lessen this anyway.

Pretty sure Alcan or national does too.. The Nissan guys I used to wheel with talked about this a lot.

alcan does.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

meh. i have the bushings now. ill just make some shorter shackles, get some tight clamps on my leafs and FIRI.

my flex should be a little less after those mods and im ok with that. and probably would be enough to make me stop worrying about the leaf bending.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What if you incorporated another XJ main with the eyes cut off, and clamped to the existing main leaf towards the ends?

Probably wouldn't reduce flex that much and help keep the main leaf from bending.

Incorporate that extra .25" of lift from the added leaf into your shackles.

Ehh? Are you saying a cartridge joint will fit in place of the the rear bushing on an alcan leaf?

Got it http://www.alcanspring.com/orbit-eye.htm

Maybe I can have a regular cartridge joint machined down to the leaf spring eye size.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i always thought of the oribit eyes as a fix for something that isnt a problem.

i dont really want a shit ton of flex. its kinda scary when backing up when the drooped side is going into a rock and my main leaf has to bend crazily before the tire can climb it.

id rather lift a tire.

boom. i talked myself out of spending more money. i win

Good point. I guess I should put my new pack in and make my reloc boxes before I do anything else with the leafs.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

young, ditsy blonde girl just came in for gas asking if there was a self service station around.

i gave her directions to the self service station with higher prices than us.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Adams XJ got called a crawler.

How mad are you :D

i noticed that.

i love how people with shortarms, bilstein 5100's and bulge fenders dont get any flack in that thread.

then adam shows up with a 4 link, 9300's and roof sliders, and its a crawler lol.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Is there still talks about doing a group steel buy? I have to buy a couple drops box tube sometime this month. If not it's probably much easier to just order it on my own and have it delivered to the shop. There's a place like 20 minutes from the shop I'm gonna try.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm gunna go over to Turner at some point this week for all my floor materials.

What's the deal with the tube order Rob? Id be in for a couple hundred feet.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Those west coast boys need to open their eyes lol my rig is nowhere near a crawler byveast coast standards

So what determines a "crawler" vs a "pre-runner" with "east coast standards"?

Because you have 9300s you're a pre-runner?

I assumed it was more about what you do than what parts you bolt on.

:D
