the only reason races like baja and dakar and bigger on tv here is bc baja is in mexico and national media big whigs will not push ANYTHING on tv that takes place in mexico (except maybe the olympics, but the olympic commitee wont ever let that happen), and the local craziness that surrounds baja like racing on public, open roads, spectator-made obstacles that can kill racers, and all the spectator deaths that happen in baja... itll never get covered really in depth in the us.

dakar simply wont catch on, and the FIA controls it. its the same with WRC. its like BBC asking the NFL to broadcast the superbowl live in england. wont happen.

I'm pretty sure I've watched some of the Dakar on TV before...

I think you're over selling how much people care about off-road racing. The fact is nobody really does, so maybe a half hour show will end up on speed channel once a week sandwiched between sailboat racing and 2 guys garage.

X2, I can see your boner over this stuff through the computer screen. KOH is a cool concept, but I'm not racing in it so I don't care much about it.

I'm pretty sure I've watched some of the Dakar on TV before...

Higlights are on nbc sports every year. But it's a far cry from "race coverage"

No mr. race wizard. I've watched actual stage coverage. I watched racers being followed, screens full of leaderboards, etc. This was a number of years ago, before they had to cancel it due to a threat made against racers in a desert section.

No, I just proved you wrong. You said they don't have race coverage on tv for the baja or dakar. You said the dakar won't catch on, well apparently it already had caught on if I just told you that I have watched the dakar on tv, therefore you're wrong. You made no mention that they wouldn't cover it this year, or all years going forth. The last time I watched it on TV was back then because that is really the last time I had free time to sit around and have hours to kill in front of one. I watch TV for maybe 3 hours max a week now. And that is a high average, and only to watch specific programs.
