THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i've been coming in to work at 9 this week bc i'm "training".. its an online class that i should have taken in november for a piece of software ive been using since july. so i'm basically just not paying attention bc i know 90% of it already from just using the program. it makes a HUGE difference sleeping an extra hour.. i feel so much better every morning. but it absolutely sucks leaving work at 6.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I slept in an extra 30 minutes today. Had a few drinks last night and almost called in this morning because of it. A few drinks never XXXXs me up like this. ugh. At least I still beat my boss into the office.

So to combat feeling like shit I started the day with a double order of bacon.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

apparently robby gordon has the second fastest KOH qualifying time behind shannon campbell. some people are excited that this is going to bring more people/money/exposure to the sport... i just think its gonna bring more stupid unbreakable $500,000 buggies that all look the same.

so are speed limiters, aero kits, and standardized chassis design gonna be rules for next year??? dumb. its less and less grassroots every year. i still want to drive out there, run the race at a mild pace (aiming to finsh, not win) and then drive home.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

king of the hammers never really excited me to the point of getting a boner like many make it out to be. its turning into the nascar of our sport. i prefer the stuff out here where you can have a cheap rig, and be competitive.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

KOH has already lost its big appeal to me.

Sure I would still love to race in it, but following it now is kind of meaningless to me.

Unless the rules get changed for the stock and mod classes, it's going to get out of control fast.

People are already finding ways to exploit the rules (aka Poison Spyder even though they got owned by Currie). I think they need to rework them if what they really intended was having more stocker type rigs involved.

i wanted to go more the first 2 years it started when it was just people who started it and dudes running linked YJs and ecotec moonbuggies (when one seaters were cool and new) were racing. especially now after pirate got sold its become a lot like a nascar.

How does Pirate getting sold have anything to do with it?

Unless I'm missing the connection.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i have fbook peeps who dont shutup about it and keep linking tons of pictures saying how upset they are that they arent there. it gets annoying

i feel that now pirate is 100% separate from hammerking its gonna be pushed harder. lance, jeff, dave and those dudes all have insane inside connection with people in the industry and media... when i was still "involved" i knew there was talk with spike tv, speed, and espn about coverage. with robby gordon in it this year, its gonna change even more.

bigger names = bigger sponsors = more money
bigger sponsors = more magazine coverage through articles and ads in larger and more popular mags. not just crawl and 4wheel, wait for motor trend or truck trend to drop a one page spot on this. magazine coverage turns to tv coverage, then its already out of control. they already have the means to generate a full-on live broadcast of this event, just a little more money (a little more sponsorship and attention from media big whigs) and it'll happen.

the only reason races like baja and dakar and bigger on tv here is bc baja is in mexico and national media big whigs will not push ANYTHING on tv that takes place in mexico (except maybe the olympics, but the olympic commitee wont ever let that happen), and the local craziness that surrounds baja like racing on public, open roads, spectator-made obstacles that can kill racers, and all the spectator deaths that happen in baja... itll never get covered really in depth in the us.

dakar simply wont catch on, and the FIA controls it. its the same with WRC. its like BBC asking the NFL to broadcast the superbowl live in england. wont happen.

I think you're over selling how much people care about off-road racing. The fact is nobody really does, so maybe a half hour show will end up on speed channel once a week sandwiched between sailboat racing and 2 guys garage.

thats completely possible. but look at the pics of KOH. there are hundreds(thousands?) of people piled onto the hammers spectating. there is definately a market.

between that and all the people that irritate sam on his f-books SPEED would definitely have enough viewers to make shit happen

exactly speed needs like 15-19 viewers minimum for a show to be made. theres maybe 26 or 27 people in the world who watch my ride rules.
