THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm gonna take some urine that's in my bladder and put it in the toilet

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What are the chances of the 60 regearing as quick and easy as the 14b did? Why do I get the feeling its gunna be a bitch and fight me the whole time? I would love to get it all geared Saturday and then assemble the rest of the axle Sunday.
Entirely possible if you take notes of your shims and don't just start throwing random guesses at it.

I didn't take any notes or setup bearings for the 14b. This time around on the 60, I'm gunna have to actaully try :gee:

...there's nowhere on a 14-bolt to use setup bearings anyway, and only one easy thing that gets shimmed. :dunce:

That being said, if it takes you more than a few hours to do the 60, you're doing something wrong or dumb. One or two hours max if it's already apart.

Do yourself a favor and make a setup race for the inner pinion bearing. You'll only need to do that and the two carrier bearings; the new inner pinion bearing can be pressed right on and the outer pinion bearing is a slip fit. Take the difference in the checking distance numbers etched on the pinion heads, modify the shims under the inner bearing race accordingly, and use that as a baseline. Don't waste time checking the pattern if the backlash isn't right. The last thing you'll do is the pinion preload shims once everything else is set; "snug" on the pinion nut without preload shims is fine for checking the pattern (and save the new pinion nut for last too).

Oh, and make sure you have the bearing caps on the proper side, and properly oriented.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

any of you fellas have a spare AW4 tranny pan? I have a customer with a MJ that needs one. We don't sell them (yet?) but the only others I see for sale are Mopar at stupid prices around $200+. I could suggest junkyard to him, but figured I'd see if any of you do first.

Think those are worth Crown making?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i think that would be a junkyard item.. but people usually take trannies whole. idk, unless you guys make some sort of HD version for a good price. i'd pick one of those up for some extra security.

I gave away several aw4s to a scrapper a few weeks ago :(

When I pull the stock junk out of the blue MJ let me know if he still needs it. That AW4 is getting torn apart before it gets scrapped because Adam wants the valvebody.
