Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Apparently the US might be allowing the import of 86,000 M1 Garands from Korea. Hoping to pick one or two of them up. Gotta keep an eye out for updates on it so I don't forget.

snows on a subie is magic. you literally can drive like the pavement is 100% dry and its july when theres snow everywhere and people crashing oh noes and you can go "ha ha!"
snows on an AWD/4wd car/truck = cheatcode for snow

if it was Doom, the code would be IDGAFAS

dude srsly. anyone who has said, "psh snow tires?? i have 4wd" has NEVER experience the fantasticness. i debated picking up a set for the vw for uber cheap (read: 200 bucks for 4) to replace the all sneezons on it but it just hasnt snowed enough, or at all, to warrant it.

Hey Colin.

I'm beginning to think that my input gear stash might've gotten melted down and used in that aircraft carrier that just came outta China.

So solly.

I had blizzaks on my first XJ.

Definitely better than an all-terrain or something similar.

I don't see the need for snow tires on my truck. Another expense that isn't necessary. The worst spot I usually have to drive in is getting up my driveway.

NBD.

John (Overland) said he might have one he's going to give me.

If all else fails, I'll spend some time in the parts washer with Ken's old input shaft and replace the pilot bearing and it should be fine.

on a 3/4 truck, idk how great they'd be bc of the rubber compound. chains would definately be a better choice if you needed more traction than a good tire would give you.

I got a set of 31" firestone winterforce UVs for the MJ last winter for $230 brand new. Then I drove around with them in the back for several months, then mounted them, then drove around for a bit longer. They are now sitting in my yard.

I think now that it is cold I might put them on it.

And I just realized that I bought them before last chickenfest, because those were the tires I had in the bed of the MJ when I showed up for it. I guess I buy tires a year or two early.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My Taurus SHO came with a brand new set of Winterforce tires on it. Still had the little nubbies on 'em.

Which was cool, because I only paid $450 for the complete car anyway. They're going on my buddy's Eagle SX/4. Should be a good combo. :D

Time to make trip #4 to the Dodge dealer in as many days...see if they finally got me the right XXXXing exhaust clamp so I can finish my truck.

A load range E snow tire would probably suck at 60-70 psi just like normal tires.

I just use 3rd gear low range at 3k rpms to get up my driveway.

:D

And on that note, time to leave work.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Colin, would I possibly be able to drop by tomorrow and put an XJ seat in the bed of your truck to bring to Chickenfest? I might be stopping by the dealer earlier in the morning to get some stuff inspected, don't want to have a seat in the trunk when I get there.

have any more info about this? :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

those winterforce tires are so stupid cheap and so stupid good. i think we put a set of two on my stepdad's old van a while ago for like 45 bucks a tire.

It was a joke... I'm sure Sam can (and has in the past) handle it well.
Oh and strangely enough, mine too.

mine have 20ft of driving on them.

Last winter I was at the house working on it and parked the MJ on a slight slope (VERY slight.) When I went to leave, I put it in drive and at idle, it was spinning one tire... screwing around with the e-brake only resulted in sliding backwards. No 4wd, no locker. So I cursed a lot, unloaded one mounted winterforce, stuck it on the spinning side, only to discover that the centerbores on the wheels I had got wouldn't fit over the hub on the axleshaft. Tightened it down enough to roll just to get me out of the road. Then the other wheel started spinning at idle  so I swapped that one too.

Damn thing idled up the hill. No sweat. Of course, I had to take the damn things back off because the centerbores were too small.

So I really can't wait to grind the bores out and mount those suckers up.

04 DR Ram w/ 5.9L Turbo Diesel Engine (not sure if yours is an 04, i guessed) requires P/N: 5159965AA for the turbo clamp to the exhaust down pipe piece.

It's also got a clamp (not in the diagram):

Clamp, Turbo, V Band - P/N: 5136073AA.

It looks like 5136073AA is the part that you need because P/N: 5159965AA looks like it's at the end of the turbo, not in the middle.
