THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well that's wonderful.

The clamp is a dealer part only, like $50-$80.

Think it's likely shot, or is it possible that a new clamp would fix it up? I plan on taking the intake off tonight and poking at the impeller to see how much movement there is.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The band clamp is not the wastegate, it's what keeps the two halves of the turbo together, and allows you to clock/rotate it. If it came loose you could have roasted the bearings inside by putting weird side loads on them. When you check the impeller play, check in and out as well as up and down, spin it and see how it feels too. This is what it looks like inside(roughly)

If it was like that for long, and the weight of the turbo pulled on that shaft while the clamp was loose, you're looking at a new turbo. What engine is it, the 5.9 or 6.7?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Also needs a cage and you're gonna want tires that will hold up...but otherwise, yeah.

Not saying that'll be competitive by any stretch. But it won't be much worse than a bigger XJ either.
I GUESS a cage might be nice to have.

I don't give a shit if it'll be competitive, I want to drive as fast as I'm capable of offroad and see what happens :rattle: Mark, don't care what you say, that is faster than 0mph :greymoon:

Good tires that will hold up... hmmm... I have a lot of stock tires with decent tread left.

Only this morning?

Ya, this is more like it.

And screw Adobe reader. I had a problem printing to our main printer since I have a 64bit machine, and because of that I'm not mapped our other printers. So I asked IT to do something about it, they installed the lastest version of Reader X, and I can finally hit print without crashing Adobe every time. Sweet! Except now that whenever I go to open PDF's if I haven't opened one in few minutes, it will hang and not open for 2-5 minutes, depending on file size. Annoying as hell, its a known bug I've found by googling it, and IT can't fix it.
If I could push a button and kill whoever invented adobe pdf reader and adobe flash player, I would. Two of the most bug ridden, frustrating, unstable, insecure piece of shit software products the world has ever seen. The other part of this unholy trinity of frustration is Java.

I just made a junk run to the scrap yard. There was a pile of just HP60's sitting there. I wanted to make an offer on the whole lot.
why the hell didn't you?

agreed. Hell, if it was like that for a couple good spools it's probably junk now, or at least the seals and bearings.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Any disadvantage to mounting my frame side UCA horizontally, like so?

I know this is for the axle end but same idea.

It may be easier for me to use my mount that I already have this way.

That's terrible but it should've been predicted given a kid that much motor. And it's Dover so I believe it %110

Absolutely not. On paper, it's stronger.
That's what RS' site says. Which is cool because I'm using a 7/8th for my upper

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

id run it kieth, i know rk had it on there old 3 links and they seemed to of flexed good(not that flex is everything)you gonna plate the inner frame there or just weld to the sheetmetal?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm going to try to plate the area it's welded to, but I'm thinking I can run a piece of angle/box off the inner frame then the mount on top of that

7/8 is fine anyway. dont be scurred

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if you want ultimate strength iron rock has a caster adjuster that mounts using a ten mm bolt. people all over the country beat the shit out of them without issue.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Any of you guys in MA have access to a lathe that'll hold a ~3.5" diameter piece of 1/2" wall steel tube and turn the inside out to 3" for bearing seats on each end? Piece of tube will be approx 6" to 1 foot long.

I pay in beer, money, or jeep parts. Need this done for work. For once Chris isn't the only one building stuff for work out of jeep parts :laugh2:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Is there a gasket or anything between the throttle body and intake manifold? I gotta pull the throttle body spacer/bracket/longer bolts outta black jeep and swap it with red jeep.
