THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken/Chris or anyone else - do you have any studs/nuts for NP231s lying around?

Hoping I can get away with finding some leftover stock hardware I can just clean up.

The holes in the case are just 3/8"-16.

Yes I have a bag of 3/8"-16 threaded studs. I don't have any stock studs, because I ruined them all with vice grips removing them to get rid of the metric bullshit.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh it's metric on the outside? I was always using a 9/16" wrench on the nuts  I thought they were just fine thread in the case and coarse outside. Never looked at them too closely.

Yeah if you wanted to spare some that would be cool.

I have 3/8-16 locking nuts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Threads in the case are coarse. Generally what you want with aluminum.

Replace 'metric' with 'some stupid thread that I don't want to have to worry about finding hardware for'. :D

Oh ok makes sense.

 Yeah I don't blame you.

Forgot to get measurements on that input shaft. I'll do that tonight.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think I have a few. Not sure.

They are indeed coarse in the aluminum and fine on the other side. No metric involved.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeahhhhh... about that.

:laugh2:

I XXXXing hate those studs and their propensity for backing out of the aluminum instead of the nut coming off.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Is the NV3500 enough of an upgrade for the AX-15 to be worth it?

There's a brand new 3500 on CL for $500. I could get a AX-15 w/ ~100k miles for ~$200 or a new 3500 for $500... is it worth the extra money?

Edit: nvm, looks like the 3500 won't work... thought I read somewhere that the 3500 and 3550 were the same except that the 3500 had an integrated bellhousing... possibly looks like there might be other differences as well.

I found studs that matched up and worked perfectly at ace hardware when I put the 242 in and again with the stak. I believe I just went with course thread all the way. They also have double ended threaded rod with different pitches at each end.

Ross want!!! They have a little deeper 1st gear and a little better 5th, overall strength is better too. If its out of a TJ, the t-case clocking will be different

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I still want to buy your old ax15 off you when you swap it out :eyes:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm tired as hell. Had a 2 hour drive to work this morning, wasn't fun. All I want to do it go home and sleep.

I also saw that NV3500 when I was doing some searches for manual transmissions for my dad's TJ.

If anyone knows anyone parting out a 4.0 TJ '00-'02 with a manual transmission, let me know I need the PCM from it.
(Billy your friend already sold his that he was parting out)

So here I am watching the sunrise in Niantic by the Atlantic. And wham, a high speed train goes by about 12 feet in front of me. It's too early for surprises like that.
Niantic is a cool town, my gf has some family down there. Was it the train thats set up high and goes right by the water? that things pretty quick

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Part of me is thinking that I might just put the old trans back in... I mean, I THINK the sound is coming from a real bad pilot bearing. If that's the case I can get a pilot bearing for free (I think my buddy said he has one I can take for free) and will just put the trans back in and hope for the best.

Only problem is that if the transmission is shitting the bed I'll have to pull it out a 2nd time and i'd like to avoid that :laugh3:

Uh ain't pilot and throw out bearings cheap? Replace em while there for peace of mind. With that beaing said I get a ticking noise some times when the clutch is fully depressed
