THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh, it will absolutely have a warrenty. Regardless, the car would still be breaking, and I would still have to take it to the VW dealer, and it would still have to be worked on, and then it would go out of warrenty, and it would still be breaking, and I would have to take it to a VW dealer to get worked on because I don't have the tools to replace the entire wire harness.*

*The guy I work with, his brother inlaw works at a Honda dealer, but before that he worked at a VW dealer. He recited his warning for me that he was given when he was looking for a car and his brother in law was helping him. He told him they have multiple vehicles that have such wiring gremlins, they end up having to replace entire subsections of the wire harness. This is on less than 5 year old vehicles.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not really, I have you guys for that :D

Not sure, haven't looked into them too much.

 Remind me to NEVER offer my truck/towing services to you.

Just an idea. Something to consider. Ranger apparently gets 20+ mpg in 4 cylinder form. ~160 lb ft of torque though. Base is 5 speed manual.

Probably not the most exciting vehicle to drive, but definitely has lots of room for shit if you plan on building a Jeep or something.

Lockable tonneau covers are all over the place too.

Dumb. The stuff you get in a base VW is worlds above what comes in a Toyota/Nissan/Honda etc

Like what? I don't remember anything special in Anthony's VW that came from the factory.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

just buy something! i feel like im clothes shopping with a chick reading these posts.

lol. when i go clothes shopping theres a bob stores and marshalls in the same plaza.

i have a set system.

go to marshalls. shuffle through the medium and large t-shirts and button up shirts. see if there are any sneakers i like on sale. see if theres any good hats on sale, then i bounce.

then i go to bobs. get some levis, 33 waist, 32 long, check the clearance sneaker rack, see if there are any hoodies on sale, then i bounce.

im done clothes shopping within like 20 minutes.

when i go with a girl she contemplates 2 shirts for about a half hour then ends up getting none of them, or some shit like that

yup, except i buy my shirts off ebay lol.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Takes me longer to get to the store than it does to shop. I wish they stocked 33x35s but 34x34s fit ok and are everywhere

He better move quick. Rangers = dead production line.

The new model is like 80-85% of the size of the F150 and Ford doesn't want to compete with it's own market in the US. The rest of the world will get the new ranger.
They stopped being good when they left the 90s and became the same cost as a full size truck. Who wants to drop $30k on a ranger when the same money gets you a full size?

Truth.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah I wasn't talking about the new Rangers or Tacomas, I was talking older. Like mid 2000s.

The new 2012 global ones look the same size an F-150. That's dumb.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bob, I would say that a new car (Doesn't mean brand new!), is a slightly bigger investment that requires a good amount of thought and consideration, over shopping for clothes.

Don't worry, I know better than to ask for your truck services.

I looked at the Dakota, Tacoma, and Ranger.

As for the ranger, ya, but its a lame 4cyl. The 6 cylinder gets 16, for the same price I know where there is a fully loaded '09 Chevy Silverado that gets that same mileage, is bigger, and only has 25K miles on it.

Dakota base gets crap mileage.

By the time I was done going through building the Tacoma to get stuff I wanted (like 4wheel drive) the price jumped from $18K to $30K.

I've build a Jeep without a truck before. And I have most of the stuff at my house anyways. For tube, etc. I've already demonstrated a cherokee can pull a car trailer with weight on it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

A family friend tells me jeep will have a pickup next year.

I feel like I have heard this a number of times

Edit: Mark the rest of the cars you're looking at are fwd or rwd, why is 4wd a requirement on a pickup? I mean, I'd never buy something that can't be made 4wd but it seems you're fine with a fwd or rwd dd.

Sorry, let me add another requirement, unless it is a really amazingly clean, low mileage car I actually want, no more than 3 years old.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

.

dakotas are crap to begin with.

i wouldnt consider buying any chrysler product period. the exceptions being jeeps older than 04-06(model dependent) and a non-petrol ram

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

New "compact" trucks suck. They're way too expensive, you're right Bill. Just looked at them.

So what cars actually fit your requirements?

I wouldn't buy most of their newer vehicles, they look lame. This excludes the charger/challenger.

I would take a petrol ram. But I wanted a CTD so I look like a badass.

Don't you get it? He doesn't know.

We're supposed to sit here and just throw out random names of vehicles while he updates his criteria in realtime, and maybe something will stick.

Personally, if I don't know what it is I want to buy, then I don't need it yet.

Because the rest of the vehicles I'm looking at are cars, and actually many of them are AWD. I would be ok with a FWD or RWD car, but a truck is different. I feel there wouldn't be any way I would buy a truck without 4wd.

Holy crap, just looked this up.

Finally, someone gets my plan.

90% of my criteria has been around since the beginning.

I need it, I just don't know what it is I want to buy, which is why I haven't bought it yet.

id say those are exceptions too, didnt even think of them.

i have a small list of modern cars i truly want.

if i wanted a quick modern v-8 it would be an 04-06 pontiac gto. they are as fast as everything else, but look like a normal car.

i have a small hard on for mazdaspeed 6's too. 4 doors, all wheel drive, 280 horse and there arent any mazda fanboys like there are subaru fanboy fags

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You don't need it, because if you did, you wouldn't be so selective.

If I needed a small car just to get around, I'd probably just buy the first little stick shift bitchbox I came across that was halfway to comfortable, fun, and in decent shape.
