THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've been at work since 430am, no time to post. I'm currently near Mark's house down on the cape, wonder if his sister is home? :D

1. Thank you for saying that you are on the cape, and not in the cape. You are only in the cape if you're 6 feet under.
2. Where on the cape are you?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Do you guys think it's wiser to build my trailer and possibly buy a tow rig BEFORE I finish my rig, or should I finish the Jeep and then worry about the other stuff. My inspection is good until April, if If I don't do the trailer/tow rig, my Jeep will be done by March so that leaves me a month to drive it on the road to get to trails. I'm fairly confident that I wont pass another yea's inspection but I guess I could try... My dad was telling me last night I should rethink my attack plan and figure out my priorities to be able to get this thing done.

[cliffnotes]
A. Build Jeep, not be able to get to trail.
Or
B. Build trailer buy/borrow a tow rig and hope I can finish the Jeep in time for NACFest
[/cliffnotes]

i always drive my jeeps way past the inspection sticker is due.

word on the street is it doesnt matter if you are out of state(but im not sure if this holds true). and if you get pulled over in rhode island you get 5 days to get it inspected. if that happens i'll just gut the jeep until theres nothing left then have them tow a small piece of the shell with the vin number on it away to the impound lot.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Festival Plaza, right off rt6 exit 6. I'm on rt132 I believe.

Yep, you're off RT 132, in Hyannis. You're in the plaza with the Shaws and Toys-R-Us right? You're in the center of my town, about 10-15 from my house.

In MA if you get pulled over with an expired inspection sticker, you get your car impounded.

on the spot?

just carry a sawzall with you. i bet you could get all the important shit off the jeep before the tow truck gets there.

I don't think I've heard of that happening to anyone.

Not saying they can't do that though.

Also, Ross, can I park at your house on New Years Day for the Pats game? Just bought tickets through work for Kate and I.

Yup, I plan to stop at that Burger King at the exit when I leave.

Never heard that either, usually the cop just tells you to go get a new one asap.

 sure

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

in ri you can get a 5 day tag for anything that wouldnt pass inspection on a vehicle. ive gotten one for a taillight twice

just gotta fix it, have an ri inspection station stamp the ticket and ya mail it in.

i actually dont know if they would impound it if it goes for more than 5 days. probably just pull your registration and/or license or some shit.

They can and never do it is stupid easy to get out of it just claim you are on your way to get inspected or repaired and maybe get slapped with a ticket

out of state it basically doesn't matter. I don't even get pulled over for inspection when I'm out of state and you've seen my jeep...

In MA if you get pulled over with an expired inspection sticker, you get your car impounded.
say what? :gag:

I've been pulled over something like 18 times in the last 2 years for inspired inspection, broken windshield, "your jeep is a piece of shit what are you doing on the road", etc. I've gotten a lot of verbal warnings, a few written warnings, and 2 inspection tickets. Never impounded. You only get impounded if you are extremely unlucky, driving a really unsafe vehicle (i.e. even worse than mine), or are a real jackass to the cop.

Only place I drive it now (till I fix it) is around town if I really, really have to, or if I'm going out of state immediately, i.e. getting on i84 and going west.

... and my inspection sticker expired this month... in 2009. It is the previous, previous owner's inspection sticker.

Technically they can.

Ya, but then what do you do with it all?
...and then what?
Then the perform police brutality.

Never heard that either, usually the cop just tells you to go get a new one asap.
Or if you're me, you get your legitimate and still valid sticker absolutely scrutinized and made to show your inspection reports less than 200 yards from your destination.

Ya, and I actually think its after a certain period of time (like 30 or 60 days). At that point they suspend your registration, which I have been there in person when someone had their Jeep impounded on the spot for expired registration. They made him get out, called a tow truck, and one of us had to turn around and pick him up.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've owned my Dodge since August '07, and it's never been inspected in NJ.

It had a PA inspection sticker on it that expired in March '08. I got stopped for that once after a spot check at the toll booth heading into PA, after it was like 9 months expired, and the cop started giving me a lot of shit until he noticed my NJ plates. Then he told me to scrape it off the window, right on the spot. He stood there for about 4 minutes while I got about a square millimeter of it off the windshield with my fingernail, then told me to forget it and just do it when I got home.

Replaced the whole windshield another year later, then shortly after that, NJ discontinued inspection on anything diesel with a GVWR over 8,500. So now I can't even get a sticker if I wanted to.

Cops that don't know what they're talking about really think you're an asshole when they pull you over for no inspection and you try to explain that there's nothing you can do about it.

It's 60 days - they don't auto suspend it. They *can* suspend it, if they decide to. The last cop who pulled me over pretty much said "hey dude, I know inspection stickers are stupid and all, but you gotta fix this thing or stop driving it, you've had your plate run 13 times in the last year, you are bringing attention to yourself and the next guy might not be as nice. A sticker more than 60 days over means they can request that your registration be pulled. I'm giving you a ticket because wtf, but if you either fix this thing or take it off the road yourself you can easily get it thrown out. Good luck."

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My jeep wont pass because of the gas tank and shocks through the floor. 35's and mid width axles without flares isnt helping the cause though.

.

put it in a god damn pickup truck. duh
