THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

am i the only one here that would consider a srt4 or cobalt ss as a dd?

SRT4s are dumb quick. too bad theyre neons and only go straight, heaven forbid you have your foot on the gas and feel like turning. Cobalt SS/G5s are slower but are more "liveable"

I wouldn't.

They're decent enough and fun, but I woudn't want to pay that much for something that little.

If I were buying it as a beater, I'd want something with minimal initial investment, and minimal fun. Strictly point A to point B, don't give a shit about it, almost disposable.

If I were gonna drive it more seriously, I'd want something not as ghey, or at least rear wheel drive. I've looked at things like the Saturn Sky Redline before, but I haven't been at a point in my life where I've wanted to make that much investment into a car.

At this point everything I own is paid off, so it'd be difficult to justify buying a commuter or beater car that wouldn't pay for itself in short order. It'd take 20k miles for me to break even on a $2k investment (about what I'd spend for something reliable), assuming I didn't even drive the truck at all.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

id rather build a sleeper car. 2jz in a geo metro or something like that

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

SRT4's are cool, Cobalts are girl cars. I'd like to do a budget boost XJ on 33's with a SRT4 motor as a DD

i like the idea of a stock hight or maybee even 1-2" dropped 2wd xj on a wj 2wd beam and jk44 rear with srt wk wheels/tires, honestly dont care the the motor

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Haha, you keep saying that, and I keep telling you its about a million times easier and faster for me to pull the Jeep less than 100 yards into my garage, and do the engine swap on solid ground under shelter, than it is for me to try to get the Jeep over to your place, drive out to your place, and try to do an engine swap outside in a yard on piece of plywood.

I would rip the interior (carpet/seats) out of it at my place, replace with equivalents from big green, and then I've said you can pull the dash from Bill's and use that. The only difference is the lower tan pieces which I could give you at a later date.
I have shelter now, just no solid ground :dunce:

and moving an engine hoist on dirt really does blow ass.

I figured you bitch about having to drive to the cape to work on jeeps, maybe you'd prefer driving to BFE central mass instead :spin1:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Going back to what Chris was talking about, I heard the Cobra kit cars are now under the gun in MA...something about them having to be reregistered as the year completed, tested under those year emission requirements, and being taxed as if it were a new vehicle. If that's true, MA sucks.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

all you guys are silly with your DD car talks and shit. what you have to do is just get a job where you have a company car you can take home! durrr

in a few weeks i'll be getting my new truck at my new job, so i'll be able to do a comparison of the POS Dodge 1500 I had at my old work, to the ford f250 long bed 6.7 diesel i'll be getting. my money is on the ferd.

thats gay. wtf. how would that even work? AFAIK custom & kit cars have always been registered as the year they were completed however they were exempt from emissions and all that BS (though I'm not sure how tax worked). How would they justify emissions? I mean... I would have to run OBD2 if I build a kit car and pass emissions? XXXX that.

you got it dude. AX15 with geared up rear... hell, a 3.55 geared 8.25 with a locker and stock size lightweight wheels will go like hell... imagine what a 3.73'd 8.8 would be like.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sounds very similar to what I wanted to do with an MJ and might end up doing with my buddy's. Short bed MJ, 4.0HO swapped in with any inexpensive/easy mods to get a bit more power out of it (or even better a 4.6 stroker), 3.55 or 4.10 front/rear axles, AX15, NP242, LSD our back, maybe LSD up front, 97+ front clip.

gears would depend which route I took with it... I was debating between dropping it ~1" with stock size tires or lifting it 0-1" and running some 30s; stock tires would get 3.55s for a bit more get-up-and-go without sacrificing too much at highway speed and 30s would get the 4.10s

If you can't make an LS2 meet emissions with a universal cat, you're doing something wrong. Even just to squeak it through smog that's a stupid simple tuning job. Delete that shit and tune the XXXX out of it once it has a sticker and no one will know the difference.

I have no problems paying taxes on the $19.9k kit car I just bought, that'll kill things costing 3x as much.

If that's all they make you do, I see no issue there.

BTW, the new Chickenfoot album kicks ass. Just plain ol' loud rock n roll with Satriani guitar mixed in tastefully, much like the first album. This shit is crankin in my house right now. :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hey Chris, the new Camaro interiors are horrible. Looks like they didn't put any thought into it at all. As sweet as the outside is, the interior does it no compliments.

You didn't mention interior quality as one of your criteria. :p

Hence why I want to build a Cobra kit car.

If I'm gonna get crap for an interior, I might as well spend the money elsewhere on the vehicle. :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I haven't driven any new Fords lately, I'll be honest.

But the last two cars I had to rent for work were a Cobalt and a Nitro.

The Nitro felt like a piece of crap and I hated the CVT; the Cobalt felt great and I had a fun time driving it at 95 MPH across the San Mateo bridge to get to the San Francisco airport after I mistakenly booked our hotel rooms in Oakland.

I think the only things I like about Chrysler vehicles are the 3rd party components that end up in them. Excluding AAM.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So my 10th high school reunion is coming up...and this one girl from my class just posted up about putting together a nighttime manhunt reunion in the local park we used to go to instead of going to the reunion.

So XXXXing tempted. I always liked that girl...until she got expelled our sophomore year, skipped a year of school going to various correctional institutions, and ended up back a year behind us. Then she got invited to our reunion on principle because we all wanted to see her again, and now she's planning an alternative thing that sounds so much better.

She was my first crush when we were in 6th grade...I asked her to square dance when our class went on our 'camping trip' at Stokes State Forest and that was like a really big deal.

Might be an interesting weekend...

I think I'm missing the major change they mentioned about the kit cars that made it a lot more ridiculous than I described.

I'll have to pick that up for my stepdad...he was psyched to see their line up. Maybe a Christmas gift.

Forgot to mention I dug the little jam session you posted a week or two back. Had it playing at work.

I've been enjoying Stevie Ray & Albert King sessions on vinyl. Can't get enough of the $.99 records at Newbury Comics.
