I'm amused by people saying my junk is a hacked together piece of shit. No need to say that, I knew it was true with the 96. The dirty POS is actually fairly well put together... uh... aside from the horrific rust issues and the fact that it's 'not built' because it's on stock control arms. At least, it has no egregiously horrible things done to it.

Oh well, I raced it on stock CAs and barely bent one. Wheeled it two or three times since then on the bent control arm without any issues. I would replace it but I'd rather be wheeling.

I'm not saying its not built because it is hacked together, (i guess), but upgraded axles, gears, lockers, transfercase, heavy duty bumpers, stronger than stock control arm set up?

You were behind Sam and I by 30 seconds...wouldn't really consider that racing. Though I will admit, we WERE surprised nothing fell off other than the front skid that was held on by 2 bolts :laugh:. Well, and the shock mounts. And the dented downpipe.

I was kinda surprised too. I wasn't planning on beating on it that hard :roflmao: these things kinda happen.

That front skid had FOUR bolts holding it on man! 3 of them are on one side though. I was actually doing pretty ok until you and Sam got in on the fun... and you missed the part that I got that time (like 30 seconds behind you guys) after slowing down going 'wtf is that horrible noise?!', STOPPING, getting out, ripping the skid the rest of the way off, and getting moving again :gag:

Destroyed windshield, no shocks, shit hangs off it, you cut parts off it that break. Ya it's pretty nice.

2. only after a race! rear shocks are optional...
3. unless I am forgetting something, there is nothing hanging off it right now.
4. damn straight I do! otherwise they'd hang off.

I think my front end is sagging a bit after adding the front bumper and my tie rod hits the trackbar mount while flexing. Might as well add an inch or two of lift right?

Going to double up coil isolators and throw in some hockey puck bumpstops for now but whenever I buy/make a longarm setup I'll want real springs. Then my shit will finally be built

Anyone got any tips on preheat/postheat and just welding tubes to the cenntersection of my 60's? I hope the little hobart is up to it also is a little map gas torch good enough for it or am I simply over my head with this?

I used oxy/ace and it took me a minute or two to get the center section hot enough in the area I wanted.

The problem with that metal is that it dissipates the heat so fast.

Pre heat is most important from my limited experience.

Doing it with colin I'd be iffy about trying it without a REAL torch.
