Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Same here.

All I can say is whoever said that a ruffstuff D30 diff cover wouldn't interfere with a OTK 1-ton steering can go XXXX themselves. Idk which thread I read it in but my ruffstuff cover is definitely causing problems.

Debating between adjusting the steering stops or modifying the diff cover. Eventually I would modify the cover either way, but I may just adjust the stops for the time being. :dunno:

Otherwise the steering is done, trackbar bracket is done except for drilling the hole for the trackbar itself. Going to take some time for dinner and maybe give up working on the Jeep for the night to think about the options I have and get back to it again tomorrow.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Got any iinterior pics Sam? I still haven't decided how I wanna do my rear hoops. I was thinking something like what Rob did (except further out and on the spring plates) or something like what you did.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

it only took 4 years but my jeep now has the capabilities of moving under its own power

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

A 231 transfercase out of a '99 AW4 does not work with a Jeep that had a 242 '91 AW4. Input shaft is too long.

I find it funny you're concerned about the floor, all things considered.

Got last minute tickets to see Ron White tonight, which meant a last-last minute 3.5 mile sprint on my mountain bike to the train station to catch the next train into town. Luckily it's nice and cool out. :D

This dude acrss the aisle from me must have been coming back from some kinda show...his whole face and arms were painted green and he was wearing some kind medieval bullshit. Think Shrek. He was asleep with his head on the seat in front of him and just got off the train...leaving a big green spot on the seatback. :wierd:

there may or may not be swamper tracks in my backyard

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

XXXX TREs. A TRE that threaded in fine yesterday (and earlier today) is now sticking 1" in. Wtf? It threaded in fine until I tapped the other side of the tube (yes I made sure the threads were clean). A tap still goes in and out fine but the TRE doesn't. It's this type of BS that slows me down to a crawl.

i DONT WANT MAH SHIT FALLIN OUT!.... well i guess i just wanna cover the sharp edges, everything gets tied down anyway.

i got a good look at my floor though when cuttin it apart, and its actually wrinkled diagonally across and the unibody glue crap is peeling apart at certain seams lol.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

One plus and one minus to end the night. First of all I definitely have to grind down the diff cover a bit :( I only get a bit over 1 turn to passenger side before I'm hitting the cover (and I'm pretty sure the steering is centered fairly well). Damnit.

On the semi-plus side my TRE troubles were caused by a bad TRE (shipped to me bad). I grabbed the extra TRE that I bought as a spare and that one threaded in fine. Steering is now on and ready to go. Trackbar bracket gets finished tomorrow, then I get to figure out what to do about the diff cover. Should I just grind it down a bit or take it off, cut a chunk of it out, and weld on a new piece?

Or just spend the $$ and order the ruffstuff offset TREs.

huh. I didn't expect that. You should be able to swap an input gear from a ~94.5 or later into the 99 case and that MIGHT help... not sure. What's it hitting in the transmission? End of the shaft? One of the things snap-ringed onto the output shaft? (i.e. is the shoulder sticking too far out of the TC and interfering with part of the trans, or is the shaft not broached deep enough to accept the whole trans output shaft?)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Fixed my tcase shifters and linkage. Works mint with no slop now.

New fuel cell ready to go with aluminum vent fitting now.

Front driveshaft bolts in and loctited.

Drilled two holes in the floor for water and plugged them

Prepped rear driveshaft for new stub, got durango driveshaft from carmelo.

Cut tubing for front truss. Gonna weld that on tomorrow and finish up the rear driveshaft.
