Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh, and I'm pulling the trigger on 1300 dollars worth of tires for the 5 ton tomorrow. so I better get that damn thing running at some point.

Bob, you work at a garage right? Does your tire machine work on 46s for 20 inch rims? :eyes:

Keeping one of the stock tires as my new donut spare.

Do em buy hand! i do 11r24.5s buy hand all day so easy!

really? I bent the shit out of my HF tire spoons when I tried to mount up a 16" tire, maybe I'm just doing it wrong.

I'm just really not looking forward to trying to wrestle 80+ pound steel rims into 150 pound tires. Hell, putting them on the truck should be a real adventure too.

use big tire irons meant for truck tires and you can use an axe to break the beads just make sure its not to sharp.. also use diesel fuel to lube the bead and it will make it alot easier.

seems that'd damage the rubber to me? I guess tires are designed to handle diesel... I was thinking I'd probably use soap and water.

The rims I'm putting them on will be bare ones from a recycler, found a place that'll sell em to me for 50 bucks a whack, so no worries on breaking beads. I usually use the high-lift trick to break beads actually, works great, no effort required.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Everyone else in this thread would be fine with a half ton, we all bought 3/4 tons because we WANTED to.

Speak for yourself, bucko.

Part of the reason I upgraded to the 14k trailer is because I tow things that require a 14k trailer (besides my XJ :p ).

I also wanted the ability to drop a 5th wheel or goose hitch on it at some point, as I do have those trailers available to use as well.

I just moved my music room downstairs...this room had nothing in it at the start of the evening.

More space for band practice than the upstairs room and heats easier in the winter.

Plus I got to try out the panorama-assist picture mode on my phone...kinda neat.

Dakotas have a np231 and the same type of front driveshaft as an XJ. Except they have a larger slip shaft thing and slip joint. Looks like a 1310 U joint at the axle end to once you take off the flange that's on it. It's short but if you're making a 1/4" driveshaft like me and Colin it doesn't matter.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Some asshat hit my race car!!! He was driving a Civic, riced up with stupid rims and dumb exhaust. His driver's front wheel hit my driver's front wheel and he slid all the way down my car. Needs a hood, door, fender, bumper, headlamp, etc. My guess is that it's totalled.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Damn that sucks, did you kick him in the shins?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I didn't even speak to him. Barely spoke english. Friggin asshat.

It was the stupidest thing too. We were at a 4-way intersection and I had a red light with 1 car in front of me. He was on the adjacent street turning left to turn onto the street that I was on to drive by in the other lane, goosed it, started turning, and drove right into me...while I was stopped.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

How the eff did he hit you on that side if he was coming from the right, and turning left onto your street? That required tardation.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Basically, he turned 130 degrees when it was a 90 degree turn.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

got one of them smooth bottom dana sixxdys under a 95 ram 2500 in the shop.

are all of these 32 spline big spindle? or just the van ones?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dude that sucks. Hopefully whatever insurance BS you have to go through gets taken care of quick.

At least when I got in my accident I only turned 70* when I should have turned 90*. I tried the "ride the wall" technique of race car driving and it didn't quite work out for me. Guess I'm not quite at that skill level yet. :gee:
