THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I would drive a brand new toyota prius, with a rainbow paintjob with penis decals on the hood, but that's just me.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

mark, id be careful around any used wrx. the 5spds are fairly delicate trannys (02-07), and i'd say a solid 75% of the people who buy them, arent good to them. at 100k you'll need a timing belt service (waterpump, pulleys, etc) and if the car wasnt taken care of, headgaskets. not to mention anything on the tranny that could be on it's way out. the new imprezas aren't a good choice imho.. the CVTs are slushier than a snow cone, and the new motors are less powerful than the ones in the previous gen. my friend's mom has a base 2010 impreza auto and its pretty slow. if you can swing an off-lease, low miles 08+ wrx i'd say go for it. you'll prob get one with some warranty miles still left on it, and those drivetrains are a lot beefier than the past gen wrxs. dont expect anywhere north of 27ish mpg, but besides that they are pretty economical if you stay out of boost, and very reliable if you take care of em.

Its cool, I don't like the '02-'07 WRX's.

Its cool, I would never buy a CVT, when I talked to the guy about the 2012 imprezza, he mentioned the engine is smaller, but I wouldn't be buying that one as much for performance, as I would MPGs. I told him absolutely 5 speed though.

Maybe its just the little wide body kit and the little logo on it, but I like the looks of the 2011 WRX's over the '08-'10.

My friend with an '11 wagon (identical car to what I test drove) said he is averaging 23.

But thanks for the WRX info, I was actually waiting for you to chime in once I mentioned "WRX". :)

but if he does that then we have more reason to make fun of him
I would definitely be more inclined to do some stuff with it if I was around other people. I mean, you guys have seen how I wheel recently, right?

I use my truck to tow my MJ, and pick up/move parts and random things around (buying large items, engine hoists, stands, engines, axles, etc.). Everyone else in this thread would be fine with a half ton, we all bought 3/4 tons because we WANTED to. I'm no exception. I could have bought a 1/2 ton 03+ Dodge and been 100% fine, but I also don't see the big deal about slowing down on hills (to a point).

Mark, just buy a car if that's what you want. I would have absolutely no problem DDing a car. Using the excuse that you like to "sit high" in the vehicle or whatever is just dick measuring, there's no reason for it. Bill, wouldn't you DD a GTO if it wasn't going to rust away in the winter? Don't even TRY to tell me you wouldn't.

I would like a truck, no doubt about that I could definitely use a truck for a lot of things. I'm just really not in the right situation to buy a truck right now. And, I wouldn't mind a car after owning only SUV's for my car driving live.

Plus, its not like I'm actually going to be listening to you fools...:D

weve already learned that 1/2 ton trannmissions do not aprove towing 1 ton cherokees

Speak for yourself bud. I needed a one ton and settled for 3/4

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hey smart guys, my uncle's XJ just decided to not start. The battery has been jink lately but even while getting jumped it just cranked and cranked. Thinking its the crank or cam pos sensor, any tell tale tests other than buy, swap, and hope?
I'd bet on CPS/CKP (not CPK, that's just wrong Mark... the FSM does call it the CKP for some years though) or possibly fuel pump. Did you check for pressure at the rail?

I might be buying an MJ bed in NJ on the way home from Rocktoberfest, anyone got a utility trailer it'll fit on that I can borrow? I will pay money, parts, or mass quantities of beer, and if I blow up a spindle or tire I'll replace it.

Hey mr. Dunderdale. Let's see some pictures of the race car

Ha, that is because CPK is California Pizza Kitchen :roflmao: Sorry.

But it still makes a hell of a lot of sense over "CKP". I mean how do you get CKP out of Crank Position Sensor?

not sure. I think they just did it because for the years they did it for, CPS stood for cam pos sensor and CKP was crank pos sensor, and there wasn't much else to call it that made sense.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

REAL MEN DRIVE 3/4 TON OR BIGGER DIESEL TRUCKS! YOUR ALL A BUNCH OF VAGINAS IF YOU DONT.....

ohh btw buying a new XJ tommorow 94 150k needs a header panel (already have on of the right color) and front bumper... getting it for 800 gunna clean it and drive it around with a f/s sign in the window that says 1800 and see if i can get some cash for it..

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

XXXX 3/4 ton and XXXX diesel, 5 ton multifuel is where it's at

driving them is also for the birds. letting them sit in your back yard and occasionally terrifying friends by letting them ride shotgun is the proper use for a tow rig.

My friend jack rode shotgun in it a few weeks ago and was nowhere near as afraid as billy was, but then again he didn't have a dana 60 carrier rolling over his toes every time I shifted and he's flown an airplane made out of wood with hundreds of thousands of carpenter ants living in the wings. So his judgement is somewhat questionable.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh, and I'm pulling the trigger on 1300 dollars worth of tires for the 5 ton tomorrow. so I better get that damn thing running at some point.

Bob, you work at a garage right? Does your tire machine work on 46s for 20 inch rims? :eyes:

Keeping one of the stock tires as my new donut spare.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Mark, I think the reason most say not to buy new is because of the huge initial depreciation as soon as you leave the lot. I know most people say they'll keep the vehicle forever, but reality is most people shuffle vehicles every few years.

My guess on the CPS sometimes being called CKP would be to differentiate it from camshaft sensors maybe? probably just a quick recognizable abbreviation.

Adam can use my J20 to drive to work if he fixes the small things I'm too lazy to do. :D
