Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

this is depressing, did some research on the dodge v10 low oil pressure issue and it seems to be pump related, so back to my search of trucks

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Keeping my jeep but its staying in time out. Tried to put a new pitman arm on it and broke the puller. Picking up a 2012 vw golf 2Dr 5spd this week.
tighten puller, hit arm with hammer, repeat till arm comes off, just tightning the shit out of stuff is silly, and why the XXXX pickup a brand new hitler mobile?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

They do have a set of just sockets.
Yup. Watch for 15% off deals on this.
I think Bill's front 60 gears are Motives? not sure.
Yup. Gears are great, but the install kit shims are a bit funky sized on thickness.
Just got back from Vermont, that place is beautiful up there. they got hit pretty hard though there was a bunch of flooding all over the place.
How far North did you go? South got hit a bunch more than the North, but there was still a few roads closed up my neck of the way.

I did get a pretty good deal, at least it isn't bad. Got this set for the advertised $170. Wasn't going to get craftsman until I just happened to be at the store today and saw the sale prices. Also ordered a few different things off amazon which should be in later this week, and I may end up making another order or two before all is said and done.

I tried that and it didn't work for me the other day. I had to heat the shit out of the arm with mapp gas. Tightened the puller as much as I could, put a breaker bar on it for another half turn, and alternate between LOTS of heat and a big hammer, eventually just left the heat on it for a while and it popped off. I get to do it all over again tomorrow.

Didn't make any real progress today beside spending a while cutting the pulley off the PS pump, buying/sorting tools, and some other odds and ends to make my life easier in the future (lights and stuff). Hoping a small groove in the PS pump shaft won't cause any issues, doesn't seem like it will...

yeah, its the same thing as colins just silver and a v10, but its also good cause ive could of gotten a truck that would need a motor soon, and i cant imagine v10's being cheap

not bad but your paying for that silly box that will fall apart quick

I know but it will hold for a little while at least. This box is definitely better than my stanley POS and that box lasted for a couple years before it shit the bed (and I just kept using it after that). If I get 2 years out of this box I'll be happy. That said I compared this set to what I got and it only had 20 or so more sockets and most of those were deep 12-point sockets which I can probably live without... Instead of getting those extra 20 sockets I got wrenches, ratchets, and the case. I think it was worth it as a starting point, will supplement this set with additional socket sets, a better case, better/different ratchets, etc as they become needed.

It's a little late now, but you need to be careful with how much heat you put into that box, you'll ruin the seals quick and it'll leak like a bastard.

Box is completely torn apart right now, getting a full rebuild and getting drilled/tapped for hydro assist.

Speaking of which I gotta double check my seal kit... I'm not sure that it came with the sector shaft dust boot so I may have to order the separate sector shaft seal kit for that. Don't want to end up waiting on dust boot later this week.

Stayed in a hotel in St. Johnsbury, played a softball tournament in Rygate/Groton area. The gas station across from one of the fields got wiped out, all of the tar was gone and you could see the tanks that were underground, and both of the fields had been completely under water last week.

bring it to fall crawl

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Something about that doesn't seem right lol.

They had to be for a some small axle. They're like 7/16 u bolts and I had to widen them like 1.5" for them to work but now the hold my springs to my axle just fine. I'll pick up real u bolts later but jeff doesn't have any.
