THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Which tool set? I may be running down and looking for one. I hate having my box at work when I want to do some easy wrenching at home.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so when I hit a bump, even a small one I hear a jingling coming from the front axle.....are my hubs/bearings shot? sounds like change or crappy bells shaking
maybe someone put a quadratec keychain with keys on it on your TRE?

These are the two sets I'm looking at right now:
200 piece
260 piece

I'm almost starting to lean towards paying the extra $70 for the 260 piece since it has a better selection of 3/8" sockets and wrenches (though I do still plan on getting some gearwrenches or other ratchet wrenches to supplement whichever set I end up buying.

I wish they would just make a damn set of all the sockets w/o the allen keys, wrenches, nut drivers, screw bits, etc... I just want the damn sockets. I don't really care about a case, I don't want a shitty screwdriver bit set, I don't want wrenches, I don't want any of that garbage... I want the 150 (or however many) sockets, maybe the ratchets, and that's it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Don't you already have a set of tools that works? Who cares if that shit all matches as long as it gets the job done.

No, not really, my tool set is as good as gone.

As I mentioned before I only have my old stanley (145 piece?) set from 2005ish, found the same set I have for something like $60-80 IIRC. When I brought that to my buddy's place to swap the miata engine I think half my sockets got mixed into his tool box and my ratchet itself was already shot after using it with a cheater bar one day  The stanley set actually held up to quite a bit of abuse and I'm tempted to just get that set again but figure I might as well pay the extra money now and have a craftsman set that I can bring to sears and get replacements for if I break something again.

Long story short I don't want to spend the time going through his toolbox/basement because that place is a XXXXing nightmare. I was getting to the point where I needed new stuff anyway so rather than spending a full day digging through his shit I'm just going to buy some new tools. Now I'm deciding between the 200 and 260 piece sets since the 260 piece set comes with quite a few more 3/8" sockets and other stuff; not sure if I would miss the extra parts that the bigger set comes with or not.

They do have a set of just sockets.

I think Bill's front 60 gears are Motives? not sure.

Care to provide a link? I did see some that were more or less just sockets but every set like that seemed much less complete than the other "mechanics" sets. :dunno:

Edit, i was begin a tard and looking in the wrong section of sears.com

edit2, even after searching for just the sockets it still seems that to effectively get the same socket set it will cost more than if I got hte 'mechanics' set with all that other garbage that I don't want. Oh well, I'll just keep shopping I guess and hope I stumble across something.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh and got that PS pump pulley off... talk about a bitch, had to cut the thing off (the center section where you are supposed to pull from just broke when I started tryign to pull it). I ended up grooving the pulley shaft a bit but FIRI. Slapping the new pulley on there and hoping for the best.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have the worst luck with starters. Just replaced another one. Had to replace one at NACfest 10 bc of faulty wiring. That one got replaced in April of this year and that one got replaced today.

when I regear I'm getting USA gear, they are Yukons that are louder than their min specs so they rebox them and sell them CHEAP

When I did my motor/5spd/4x4 swap and lift on the dirty POS I snapped both studs off the solenoid on my perfectly working 235k mile starter with a half inch layer of gunk and oil on it. So I had to put my spare in. It lasted something like 5 starts, I had to hit it with a hammer randomly to get it to work at all, and then it died completely. So I put my spare spare in. It lasted 3 starts and died completely. I ended up saying XXXX it and bought a reman one for 90 bucks and slapped it in, it's been fine since. I was getting pissed because I was on my third starter in like 2 days.

I actually ordered a replacement solenoid for my original starter from rockauto and it came in the mail a while ago, one of these days I will remember to install it on the perfectly fine starter with busted lugs I pulled out and that will be my spare I guess.

I've heard the USA Standards are like, ridiculously loud, are USA Gear different?

.
from everything I've read on all the different forums and reviews I've found maybe 5 people out of 100 saying the noise was loud, guys that install (don't sell) say they do them all the time and never heard a complaint
