THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've had good luck with poly performance

Just remembering now...

I got the following from them:

- 4 bilsteins
- both suspension seats and harnesses
- complete OBA setup

They always had good pricing and reasonable shipping times. The only time I had an issue was when they sent me the wrong valved 5125s. I called up and they sent me the new ones without having to charge me anything additional before I sent the old ones back or anything.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

TNT's customer service sucks balls. None of my friends nor I have had a positive experience with them. I needed hardware for a bellypan, ended up paying almost $50 bucks (with shipping) and got hardware for a full longarm kit... almost 3 weeks later.

Was it all grade 8? Bolts can add up but the 3 weks deal is bullshit years ago when I got mmy used clayton kit I called up adam on a thurs like 2 ish got the complete hardware kit for $42 and it was at my door next day kinda sad other conpanied can't have decent service and I can agree with colin on poly havin good service now back to my buff chix pizzia

I just saw they had the 1/4" NPT plugs for the steering box and figured I'd ask. Went and got ready to order... $10 shipping for two plugs. Fawk that. Went to grainger and they require company info to create an account (damnit x2). Time to keep looking.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

uh..mcmaster?

That was the next place I was going to look during my lunch break. My boss is working in the lab today so I have to be a bit more covert about being on NAXJA/shopping. Also going to call the local grainger and see if I can stop by on my way home tonight to pick some stuff up, that might be easiest/cheapest/quickest option.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It's amusing that Anthony thinks tuning a rig to go fast is something that just developed in the last few years. :D
Hilarious.

So you think that the average joe who just lifted his rig and wants to go fast started caring about spring rates a "long time" ago? I doubt it. He just hammered down and if something didn't work right he'd swap for something that maybe would work better. I don't think people that don't compete started doing spring rate calcs till fairly recently.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

1/4" NPT plugs? Really?

Off the shelf at lowes/home depot...?

I thought about it but found a number of sites that had them but only rated for low pressure stuff. Didn't know if HD would carry plugs for the pressure that the steering box hits. I'll check out HD on the way home though.

yea it was, but i didnt need 65% of the hardware. no big, just something that happened. TNT makes pretty decent stuff, and were the first to offer XJ stiffys... that says a lot.

The 'average joe' still doesn't give a shit. Go read through any number of threads in Mod Tech and tell me how many people there are concerned about spring rate vs. how their XJ will look with 33s, black wheels and 4.4375" of lift. A handful care a little more and will base a decision on empirical data or secondhand experience - manufacturer X is known to be softer than Y, or "my friend has X and it's too soft" - but the vast majority will buy something because RE paints their stuff a pretty silver color, or this vendor is having a sale, or I saw X on a Jeepspeed so it must be good, or Quadratec sells Skyjacker and that's what my friend has, etc.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. 99% of the wheeling population is still satisfied with something that gets them down the trail and back home again. I think what you're perceiving as this recent interest in going fast is just that a bunch of people in our immediate sphere of influence - myself, Colin, Adam, etc - have only recently had the ability (or need) to join that other 1% and start giving a shit.

Part of that is the recent development of racing venues on the east coast...but to the rest of the country, it's nothing new. It's just something that only becomes an issue when it needs to be.

A lot of the numbers that manufacturers give are bullshit anyway...by the 'published' numbers, Rusty's springs are soffter than RE. Does anyone really believe that?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

UGH! I have to look at Bill's jeep all month!
? ? ?

Yeah you know I'm just busting your balls. :laugh3:
BTW, I called you back the other night and then realised you have a new number.
Trade secrets aren't dumb if they're actually worth protecting and won't affect your sales.

For example, I'm pretty sure RCV won't reveal what material they use for their shafts. Does anyone care what the material is? As long as they can prove the shafts don't break then who gives a shit (which they do with load testing results Bill told me about when he talked to them).
D30 & D44 shafts are "4340 type material" and the D60 shafts and ball are a "300M type material". This was all I was able to get out of them when I called and ordered mine.
Not sure what you're getting at, but we have 7 one the driver side and 8 on the passenger side. http://browndogindustries.com/s2572-0HXheadersuperkitwmotormountsandenginebrackets.aspx
Speaking of customer service.... here's a good company!

If the springs don't come with cardboard I don't want them.
