THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm really hoping the management here lets everyone leave by noon on Friday. Tomorrow shouldn't be too bad but I have a feeling that Friday is really going to drag.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

today is dragging.... tomorrow and friday are gonna bring the suck.

agreed. today blows.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Niether of you are stuck at work till 1030 tonight and I gots to be back in at 8 tomorow morning atleast tomorow is my Friday and payday

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

nope, and if I was stuck at work until 1030 tonight I'd likely kill someone. Probably not kidding.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

They bumped back my estimated date of restoration from 9/2 to 9/4.

It's almost comical, at this point.

If you need power lmk... you can probably borrow our generator if you want. We're not using it.

And I think newegg just set a new record delivery time (for me at least). Placed an order mid to late yesterday morning and the tracking info shows that it was delivered at 9:30AM today. Less than 24 hours from order to delivery (and that was using free shipping).

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I learned that one of my best friends got herself knocked up. She told me yesterday and we had a long talk about it today. I was one of thhe first people she told and turned to for advice. I kinda feel bad for her, but kinda not for letting it happen.

So...one of the things you do after she comes to talk to you, since she trusts you enough to tell you first out of her friends, is go and post it up on the internet?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The oil change from hell.

After work Friday I decided to change the oil in my XJ. Drain the oil, and go to remove the filter... won't move, no matter what. My next move was to stab the filter with my big flathead and turn. It turned, about half a revolution... still not enough to break free by hand. Fast fwd to a destroyed oil filter and pops and I are using the flathead and hammer to tap it free, literally all that remains of the filter is the ring that holds the threads. Pops managed to break the oil pressure sensor and dipstick handle in the process. Finally, the filter comes off and I go to install the new fram ph16 filter. No luck, apparently the housing the filter mounts to actually bent down from the tapping off the filter. So, I had to go underneath and tap the housing back up to get the filter to clear. Now, it leaks from the housing somewhere while running, I can't tell what my pressure is nor can I check the level. Did I mention I fix helicopters for the Air Force and helped install a Supercharger on my Mustang? Never seen a filter on this tight, the previous owner changed it 3k miles ago!

:dunno:

I got home at 530pm today and was in the house drinking a beer by 6pm. I put a new Mopor filter and 6qts of Mobil 5000 in at point in there, I also rode my mini bike around the yard.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I picked up all my dive gear today (minus lead and tank). I'm pumped, this stuff is awesome. I can't want to go diving again.

Yeah, my chick has a 05 Wrangler and her change went perfectly smooth. I don't understand it. My dipstick is halfway down the tube. ( Thats what she said.)

The oil filter on my xj is a huge PITA to take off every single time. I make sure it's not ridiculously tight when I put it on, but it doesnt seem to make a difference. I have to hammer an oil filter wrench and then use an extension to take it off.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I always just put mine on relatively loose (snug then a bit more, usually however much my very oily hand will make it turn w/o trying too hard). Never had much of an issue with it.

And fawk steering boxes. Everything on this thing is damn near impossible to get off. Had to use lots of heat to remove the pitman arm nut, pitman arm, and then had a hell of a time getting the snap ring off the front cover... now the front cover won't come off. 3 hours of work (minus 30 minutes for dinner) and I feel like I got nothing done. Hopefully that cover comes off easy tomorrow and I can get this shit done.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I gotta replace a steering box in a 07 E350 this weekend. Im NOT looking forward to getting to it, espically on a van model.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm assuming that's going to suck so: sorry to hear :laugh3: Never had to do anything steering related on anything other than an XJ (except when I had to patch the hard line on my brothers Yukon which wasn't bad).

Just found a pirate thread on rebuilding the steering box which gives a different (and more promising looking) method for getting the box apart. Going to try that tomorrow evening since I already cleaned up tonight.
