THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've had deathwobble so severe it slid the motor mounts on the frame brackets (with the bolts properly tightened - you could see where it had scraped the paint and rust off the brackets, they were bright and shiny) and snapped the passenger side motor mount right off the engine block. I was able to steer fine.

i guess i am a wee man

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ive had deathwobble with 37x13.5" boggers and no trackbar bushing.

i drove 5 hours home weaving back and forth so that lack of bushing never floated in there and never had a chance to wobble by keeping pressure on it

I noticed that. When I first started getting deathwobble in the MJ I could wait till I started hearing the exhaust slam into things, then quickly whip the steering wheel from 9 oclock to 3 oclock and back to 12 and it would kill the deathwobble every time. I figured I was putting pressure on it, slowing the DW down, then putting pressure on it again (but from the other side so I didn't drive off the road) and killing it.

Well...
The front of the tire (center of tread to center of tread) measurement is : 64 inches
The back of the tire (same) measurement is : 65 and 3/4 inches.

-I have some work to do.

I checked the linkage and it seems to slide into each selection just fine, and engages in 4lo fine also.

I did a small brake stand to determine if I was in 2wd or not.

That's a much bigger difference than I had anticipated.

votes for Travis better start rolling in now

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The steering is all stock. I never drove the vehicle before the lift install so I am not sure if it had an issue with toe in the first place.

1 3/4 of an inch of toe seems pretty extreme after adding the 4.5 inch lift and 33 x 12.5's but I am not sure what the norm is.

Thanks
I will update tomorrow.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i think im gonna drive my jeep to work tomorrow despite the potential unsafe-ness. this mean i need to find my vacuum canister as it hit my tire and blew off the jeep a block from my house last night.

As we mentioned the norm should be about 1/8" and that will change when you lift the Jeep. When lifting the Jeep it will increase the angle of the drag link and increase the toe in (and also should have caused the steering wheel to off center). Just use the adjusters to correct the toe in to somewhere around 1/8" and center the steering wheel and see how it handles after that.

Why do you need the vacuum canister? Mine fell off a while back and I drove over it. Guess that's something else I should pick up from a JY while I'm there on the weekend.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hvac. i need me my a/c.
Wasn't thinking of AC since I haven't had that working since '06/'07. Speaking of which, I got the brackets from the ZJ to relocate my alternator a bit higher which also requires that I get the AC bracket... can't remember if I got the AC relocation bracket. Add another thing to the JY list. I think I might grab parts for an AC system and see if I can't get that fixed on mine. Need all new hoses/etc but I might be able to get it working fairly cheap.

HVAC, Cruise, etc.

Cruise is vacuum too? Never knew that. Learn something new ever day.

That welder/generator is looking more and more temping esp if I can talk him down on the price. DC and more powerful than a Lincoln tombstone

Yup.

And even if you don't have A/C, if you lose vacuum you will lose the ability to direct your blower anywhere aside from the windshield defrost vents.
