THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I can turn when I get death wobble just fine. Death wobble just oscillates around wherever you have the wheels pointed, it doesn't disconnect you from the steering.

i've never been able to muscle the steering wheel in any direction when its uncontrollably and violently shaking back and forth :shiver:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The wheel does not skip, the front corner of the jeep seems to almost want to lift up and then drop back down while turning, depending on the direction I am turning. It does this at low speeds, I did not drive it very fast after I discovered this, but I would assume it would do the same at higher speeds.

I will have to check my toe on lunch break (7pm) tonight.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Because I am a po' boy, It did not come with an aftermarket trac bar. I had to relocate it on the stock axle mount.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

at 4.5"? damn. i'll blame that.

Yea, if I determine this is the cause I will have to work some over time to get an aftermarket one. Thanks for the insight, Ill post later when I get my toe measurements.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I will have my buddy stop by and do this on my lunch. Thanks again

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hmm, I seem to remember being able to pull off the highway some when I was having death wobble in my old lovely stock 2 door.

i guess my death wobble was way more hardcore lol

dislike. deaver doesnt sell YJ springs

call them, they'll make whatever you want. why you want deavers?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I forgot to mention, I have brand new 33 x 12.5 mtr kevlars on 10 inch wide rims. so my toe measurements may be wide. Unless there is a certain difference needed in the width from the center of the front tread, to the center of the back tread.

I better do some research before I get told to. Haha

I think I had about 4" lift out of my 3.5" BDS springs back when I first installed it and it used a relocation bracket. Still have it on there. Never had any issues except a 'clunk' when it was a tad loose and could shift a bit. Not saying the track bar isn't the problem but it's not necessarily the culprit

I measured center of tire to center of tire in the front and rear. I think I did something like 1/4" or 1/8" toe in the last time I aligned it.

I hear theyre awesome. but i think for this "budget" build ill just go with BDS. i liked them on my old one.

call national spring.

ya you want like 1/8" toe in, so if the backside of the tires is 60" you want the front to be 59 7/8"

btw working til 930 tonight... balls, working the late shift from 1 til then. got up at 645 so i could drive an hour to see a probation officer, which was more state bullshit. paid 200 bucks for 20 minutes of her asking me the same exact questions every else has been.

Except that this portion isn't true. :moon:
Doesn't come off the street that way. :laugh3: :laugh3: :laugh3:

.!.:D.!. The phase convertor is wired in. Theres actual 3ph lines running right over head on my container, I should just throw some jumper cables up there to tie in.

Im gunna suggest something different here. Im gunna guess you probably only did a T-case drop since youre a po' boy, this also effects the shift linkage for the t-case. It almost sounds like the jeep is in 4WD and youre feeling the front end getting power to it. Just an idea.

Theres a cherry one just like your old one that just showed up in town here. I pass it everyday on the way to work.

/quote or whatev.

This is probable. I did have some trouble shifting the transfer case to and from 2wd. This jeep sat for 5 years behind a house and i never drove it before the lift and engine overhaul.

I will take some measurements and check into the shift linkage momentarily.

Thanks again.

I've had deathwobble so severe it slid the motor mounts on the frame brackets (with the bolts properly tightened - you could see where it had scraped the paint and rust off the brackets, they were bright and shiny) and snapped the passenger side motor mount right off the engine block. I was able to steer fine.
