I can't believe I ever considered putting an auto in the next wheeling rig I build. I dunno WTF I was thinkin that day.

If you think a stick shift sucks off road, you've just never driven one that's geared properly. :)
I'm gonna hate 33s and 3.55s, I just know it. Fortunately I have an 8.8 with 4.10s and a set of 30 4.10s sitting around... :wierd:

in low range first gear hits redline at ~3.5 miles per hour. But I can tow all your jeeps... at the same time... and probably the tow rigs too.

I realize you are used to lame ass transmissions.

Awesome transmissions require longer throw due to the size of their penis.
You're going to love the 5 ton whenever you actually get to drive it.

I bash my knuckles on the dash shifting forward and nearly sack-whacked Billy a couple times pulling the shifter back. It has like 2 or 3 lightyears of shifter throw.

The funny part is, if he does juice things up to actually use the holding power of that clutch, then NV4500 parts start blowing up.

That's actually how I used to drive my Jeep when I had 33s on stock gearing. First to 4k+ and then straight to 3rd or 4th. Never actually got it into 5th except the rare times I was driving downhill on the highway with a hurricane at my back.

Does gear ratio matter? My buddy has an 8.8 w/ 3.2X gears that he would probably let go of cheap if you will be gearing it anyway. Pretty sure he already stripped the spring perches off it too. Only problem I can think of is that I'm pretty sure it needs new brake parts.

An 8.8 is an axle, axles are for cars, cars are used by people with a license, you do not need an axle.

Usually the input shaft first.

There's an upgraded one available that uses a 1-3/8" spline instead of the stock 1-1/4".

Good thing you just bought that expensive clutch disc. :D

He is right, and it's the reason I'm in the same boat as he is an NOT modifying my DD. Heck, my truck already blows past all y'all's anyway (besides Trevor & like) so what do I need more for? :D
