I gave up on practical vehicles and not modding them a long time ago, the temptation is too great. If I was going to get a responsible vehicle and not mod it, it would have be something I hated, and I don't want to drive a vehicle I hate.

me either lol. thats why i want the supercharged version lol.

the last time i had a practical vehicle was a stock cherokee (and those dont last stock for very long) and before that i guess nothing lol.

I too have been having this thought pop into my head recently since I've started working. I've (Gasp) been thinking the Briarwood might not be too practical for that much longer...

i have a j10 im not going to want to drive in the winter

a cherokee with permanently no doors

and a wrangler that lost its novelty for me already

i think some malibus came with it
i know grand prix had them but those are fugly

i know only auto trannies are available which is gay though. but they arent terrible behind (to the side of?) that motor.

im just not a huge fan of vws and subarus in general. ive driven them and worked on them and they just have never done it for me. both seem to turn into real pieces of shit as they age too. but maybe thats just my limited experience with them.

I didn't think any malibus came with it. Malibus in those years suck balls from my experiences. But I think some Impalas were blown...?
I knew about the grand prix, but they're ugly and enromous I agree.

I've never been a fan of how any of those transmissions shifted, just from riding in plenty of automatic American cars.

I haven't worked on too many old Subaru's but I've worked on a handful of VW's from 99 and up. Those were all in pretty decent shape, but I'll agree that they take special tools and stuff.

What about a early 00's Maxima?

Toyota Camry. You'll never want to mod it.

Really I'd probably get some ratty ass beat to hell subie with a bunch of rot, duct tape over it, get it to pass inspection and drive it all winter. Then drive the jeep in the summer. I hate non-AWD/4wd vehicles in winter.

Speaking of which I can't wait to blast around in the dirty POS this winter with a front locker and studded snows.

Well you don't have a super cool "turbo" logo under your hatch handle then.

And this one was dark gray, and had a lizard or gecko sticker on the rear window.

Stickers that advertise your mods are lastaraon a nice car. Mine is de-badged for a reason.

Ya, but the Briarwood has been getting pretty horrible gas mileage, and I've been doing a lot of driving lately. It is constantly running hot, and it has some steering issues. I've also been finding that rust is starting to bubble through in a few places, as recently as today at lunch I noticed my pass rocker panel has some bubbles that just popped. I also don't like driving that in the winter, even though I have. My original plan was to drive green jeep in the winter and let that thing sit.

My green jeep isn't practical, clean, or even has a full set of tires. Rob's old Jeep is dead in my backyard and isn't registered. Bill's old Jeep is crashed.

not a fan of japanese 6 cylinders. they are decent cars, but im not a fan of working on them. they just seem too cluttered and too many wiggers drive them

i know the chevy 3.8's like the back of my hand.

and they smoke the front tires if you floor it.

i think it was the impala that was blown. i know they got it in 04, but that might be a little too new for what i want to spend

during a snowstorm ill just wear ski goggles and a couple carhartts and drive the xj around

you officially own as many jeeps as I do. And I bet if you put a CTS and a steering box on it, the briarwood will be back to normal. How's it shift? Does the torque converter lock appropriately? That can kill your mileage in a hurry too, and cause overheating...

Call me crazy, but what about a Mustang or late 90's Camaro? They're cheap and fun.

Bonnevilles are just bigger, slower Grand Prixs right?

Ya, I need to find some time to stop over at NAPA to get a new sensor. That takes a full lunch break though, and that is the only time I can get there.

I need to order a box soon. I'm going to skip the durango box and just put an XJ box in, its all i really need.

I did a "cruise at 50 (or 55, can't remember) and lightly hit brakes, rpm should jump up to signal that the torque converter is unlocking" test, and it passed.

Some camrys had a v6. They're still boring though.

The only inline 4 worth owning is one that has boost IMO.

they are all essentially the same car underneath, the bodies just vary.

mustangs and camaros arent as roomy, a lot more expensive, and would be more to insure. and if i get a v6 stang or camaro i would be a fag

I can't argue any of your latter point.

I'm trying to think of any other options but coming up with either boring engines or boring cars or v6 FWD Jap cars that you said you don't want. :dunno:

I loved my '92 4-cylinder Camry. Just wish it had the manual transmission. I beat the everloving shit out of that thing and it just kept going. And by that I mean I had it following my buddy's XJ whereever he went, through mud deeper than my rockers with the "gotta use momentum to get through so enter the mud as fast as possible" type of mentality and jumped it on a weekly basis. God I want that thing back.

Friend had an '89 fox hatchback. Plenty of space and it kicked ass. If I didn't get an '05 Mustang I would be driving a fox hatchback right now.

Sam, have you thought about why you know the 3.8L like the back of your hand? Engine dependability would be my main concern if I were buying a GM car with the 3.3L, 3.8L engine. I like my civic because it gets awesome fuel mileage and it's still reliable @ 180,000 miles and I beat the bag out of it every day. I'll probably just get some $30 winter tires for it and make due when the time comes. Either that or drive the Jeep.

because about 20% of the customer base at the shop i work at are gm cars from that era running the 3400 and 3800 lol
