Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yesterday at work? Oh wait that didn't happen for me. I'm probably going to go in, check my email and do a little bit then come back home. I don't feel any better than yesterday. Being under the weather when the weather is nice sucks

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I got thursday off. Going to paddys on Misquamicut.:firedevil Going to be hot.

i love that place

except when its crowded and it takes a half hour to get a beer.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Somebody tried telling me that the other day and I told them they were a dumbass, I know MA goes off the book value and not the actual sale price (unless its bought from a dealer or somebody with a car selling license thingy).

It was me and I was telling you what happened when I registered my Civic. They definitely didn't tax the blue book value of the car but the amount that was on the bill of sale.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I almost hate to admit it, but I think Ross is right. His version is how it is worked every time I've bought a vehicle.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I thought it was that way too but unless the blue book value of my civic is $500
(it's ~$2,000) then i guess they messed up. I never said that he was wrong, just what i experienced.

Let's play "Is it racist?" (Any Tosh.0 fans here?)

Here in MA that just means you have more $ to give them.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wtf every vehicle i owned and registered was taxed on bluebook........ even my POS 94 ranger that i paid 500 for.....

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

when i registered my comanche it said $600 on the bill of sale. the lady didnt even charge me tax.

and my wrangler had $200 on the bill of sale, so taxes were $14 bucks.

I dont remember any of my other vehicles. the only car/truck/jeep i owned that cost me more than $800 was my silverado. and I never drove the damn thing.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anthony, I will PM you back channel about your comment last night... don't want to clutter this thread up and get people all worked up about >3 lines.!.:D.!.

I got raped hard today by Massachusetts, in this case literally Taxachusetts, when I payed for the title and tax on Rob's old Jeep. The tax didn't go by what I bought it by, but what they valued a cherokee by out of some book, which was almost 3 times as much as I paid.
Yup. When I bought my XT for $100 they looked at me funny and asked if that was wrong... I told them it wasn't and that the bike needed work so it was cheap. They said "sorry, gonna have to charge on the book value, it goes by whichever value is higher (price paid vs book value)". Luckily the book value wasn't more than a few hundred so it wasn't too bad.

As mentioned above: I think the vehicle is taxed on price paid or blue book, whichever is higher. If you buy all your vehicles at lower than book value then yeah, you will pay tax on the book value.

As mentioned I think the only loophole is buying from a dealership.. the car I just bought is valued at $15k-$20k (depending on condition and private party vs dealer) on KBB... I bought it for quite a bit less than $15k and paid tax on the price I paid.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

in mass now no matter what you pay for it they look up the kbb value of it and charge you the tax for that. i asked if i totaled it if thats what the check would be for.. i honestly might slam my jeep into a tree to get a 2200 check when i payed 400 for the thing.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I so totally had a dream last night that mashed Jeeps, some of you guys, and harry potter together last night.

Hahaha, it was weird, I know Colin was there, Chris, maybe Ross, and a few others, and we were definitely bombing through the snowy woods. At one point it got confusing, but it ended with Colin and I on a quest to go find someone's KOH buggy.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Colin, you should probably stay away from Mark for a little while...
