Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Go live in your time machine. And don't listen to any new music because according to you it's all the same. :moon::moon::moon::moon:

P.S. Sam & Adam (& Colin though he doesn't put it out there) likes "music nowadays" too.

i liked adams taste in music prior to a couple years ago. minus the super duper whiny sounding emo rock.

i like the semi-whining sounding emo rock.

This.

The only thing good about emo is pictures of emo chicks (but only pictures). They've all got too much baggage to be worth the time in real life. See you folks while I'm burning in hell.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yep. At that point I was 12, at the critical turning point of being just old enough to start riding my bike into town, having a source of income to buy stuff (mowing lawns, raking leaves, etc), and wanting to develop a musical identity of my own instead of listening to the same stuff my parents always listened to. I remember not being able to buy Dookie because it had the parental advisory/explicit lyrics sticker on it.

I was 8 that year and remember getting Dookie for xmas. Got it from my younger brother who knew I liked the album. Apparently my parents didn't understand the parental advisory label and bought it for him so he could give it to me... Well skip forward a few weeks and I was playing it out in the garage when that same brother complained to my parents about the language in the album and they took it away :roflmao: Still have no clue what happened to it.

It screws up my appetite and I think it caused me to lose a few pounds. That's not something I can really afford to do. I'm a little over 6'1" and, soaking wet, I weigh 155lbs right now. If I start excericising I'll gain some weight (rather counter intuitive, eh?)

I suppose that's a reasonable reply. I'm trying to lose weight so maybe I should just substitute my breakfast AND lunch with coffee  On the other hand maybe I will just continue to have salad for lunch and try to convince myself that I want to go to the gym.

 I got dookie for christmas when I was like 7 from my grandmother, I wanted it because my older cousin had it and I thought it was soo cool. My grandmother didn't know any better, it was on my christmas list, and I got the explicit version. I opened it and saw it wasn't the edited one and shoved it under the pile of other stuff I had before my mom confiscated it

I have absolutely no idea what it feels like to need to lose weight or what works. I can only say that what I used to got me very in shape. Everyone is different.

...yep. I need to put some meat on my bones. The way I eat you'd never know.

When I'm excercising/busy I'd wager that my daily calorie intake is >5k. It gets expensive. Fast metabolism is a curse and a blessing.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

These were pretty damn good seats for having standing room only tickets. The usher kicked us out of the standing room zone because we didn't have home plate standing room tickets, but he was like why the hell are you guys standing, this entire section is empty.
good to see the sox finally getting back on track. how many games have you been to so far? i wanna get up there a couple times this year
who the eff spends $100 on a front shaft?
i thought to myself the same thing. i had to buy a new centering ball yoke assembly thingy and a u-joint, but my thought now is i'll probably never have to worry about it again.
Emo is dumb. Period.
agree

im about 6' and was around 155 for years. just recently got up to 170, my ideal weight would be a healthy 180 (ie: working out a bit so its muscle and not all fat)

haha, yeah. If my folks came out to the garage that would have been one thing, I would have turned the music off... I wasn't exactly expecting the brother who gave me the album to complain and get it taken away :wierd:

I also remember getting Aerosmith's '9 lives' album a few years later with the song 'ain't that a bitch'. My father gave me that album after which my mother said "just don't listen to that song".. yeah, ok mom. To this day I remember that 'ain't that a bitch' is track 7 and I made sure that I skipped that track if my mother (or brother) were around.

I kinda hate you right now. I would rather have a fast metabolism than the slow as shit metabolism that I have.

I hope to get out for a few games this year as well. I haven't been since 2007 or 2008 (however the last game I did go to I did got a luxury box so I guess that makes up for it :D)

I'm also about 6' and the last I checked I was about 245, give or take 5lbs. I'm aiming to get myself down to about 200-210 by late summer/fall and then I will set further goals. Worst part is that I have flat feet and horrible ankles so I can't run much if at all... gotta do elliptical.

What really confuses me is that while at school I weighed myself on multiple scales at 215ish. I then graduated and didn't weigh myself again until summer 2009 (over a year later) and, at that time, I weighed in at 240ish yet I hadn't really gotten any bigger... all my same clothes fit just fine. Since then I have held at right around 240 until recently when beer and pizza/wings became my primary diet (damnit Bruins/Celtics/Sox).

I've never once considered the amount of calories in anything I've consumed. I couldn't even guess at my daily caloric intake. I just get hungry, decide what I feel like eating at that moment, and have it.

I'm like 5' 7"ish, I've never been above the low 130's, haven't been below the high 120's since high school, and absolutely nothing I do seems to have any effect on that. Works for me.

So after I obtained a copy of Dookie by copying it onto a cassette tape, I got busted for it and got it taken away. Conveniently, I had just gotten a new boom box () and tried out the high-speed dubbing feature by making another copy of that tape. Win. :D

I then wanted to buy Kerplunk (the album preceding Dookie), and my dad insisted on reading the liner notes/lyrics before he'd let me get it, even though that one didn't have the explicit lyrics sticker. The liner notes for that album have a story as the centerfold about a girl who murdered her parents because they wouldn't let her go to a Green Day show. My dad let me buy the album.

That same trip to the record store, my dad bought Live's Throwing Copper. I liked that one too so he made me a copy of it before he had a chance to listen to the whole thing. Turns out there are two things on that CD that my dad wasn't happy about - a song called "Shit Town" (written about York, PA) and one line in the song Stage where he goes "Come on MOTHERXXXXER!". By that point the damage had already been done, so he sat me down and just asked that I keep it to myself and don't go playing it around my friends lest their virgin ears be offended. Of course that's immediately what I did.

Jesus Christ. Boom box, cassette tapes, high-speed dubbing. I remember my first Sony Walkman. Welcome to XXXXing memory lane, folks. :laugh2:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I grew up listening to 80s hair bands (Bon Jovi, Poison, Motley Crue, etc.) as well as older rock (AC/DC, Black Sabbath/Rainbow/Dio, Deep Purple, etc.).

Still like all of them, but also listen to pretty much anything else that sounds good to me.

I tend to like music that gets me pumped or something. Doesn't even matter if the band members are talented or not, if the music sucks I couldn't care less.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hey scott your into cornhole right? i played for the first time ever on saturday, and me and my friend beat these two guys that have been playing for years twice in a row, and we spanked 'em. it was actually really fun we're supposed to be playing it again this weekend.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Theres no secret to being healthy/in shape.

Stop eating crap, and go work out.

I weigh around 200-210 right now and am completely out of shape.

When I went to the gym everyday and ate a lot healthier, I weighed 185 and felt amazing.

I almost referenced my boom box when I mentioned the aerosmith album but decided that I would let it slide.

I also remember my first (2nd hand) diskman... sitting in the back seat of the car trying to hold it perfectly level so that it wouldn't skip when we went over potholes in the road. :laugh3: Then it was XXXXing magic when ESP was introduced and I could shake the CD player for 10 seconds before it started skipping.

I got up to 168 when I was 21, but I was weightlifting a 2 hours a day 4-6 days a week and mountain biking a lot. When I stopped I slowly lost all of the muscle mass but didn't gain any fat. I've done the 'excercise like crazy for 3 months then ride it out' a few times. I'll get big and strong for 3 months, then get a bad cold, stop lifting, and let myself shrink back down over the next 6-9 months.

Even with all the beer I drink and unhealthy burgers and whatever that I eat all the time now, I still am not gaining anything.

I've been keeping busier most nights lately and that has led to a ~2lb gain. Baby steps.

Yessir. Speaking of which, got my cornhole league this afternoon if it doesn't get rained out. Tons of fun. Grab a 30 rack after work and play cornhole for a few hours.

I am definitely planning on making myself a set of boards this summer. BBQs and cornhole all summer  :laugh2: Will be even better if I get myself a house too.
