THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Serious question, what racing experience do you have?
I did a mountain bike race in college and I used to ride with the collegiate team. They kept trying to get me to do more races after that one but it wasn't my thing. Riding with them was sweet because it pushed me to keep up. They were and most of them still are fast.

edit:
I don't know if anyone noticed, but I haven't once prophecied my participation in a Line Mt. Race or the RCROCS series because I don't have any intention of doing it. I'd rather just do it recreationally, but I sure as hell wouldn't turn down a co-driver spot.

The track days that I want to do on my motorcycle are only recreation too. They don't even allow lap timing.

So...you're entire view of the racing world is based on one mountain bike race?

Apples to Oranges dude...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That whole class is going to turn into high-dollar rigs just like the pro class or whatever you want to call it.

Unfortunately 110% correct. Justin and I were talking about that last night. I hope they always have drawings for the entrys, that way as long as your rig fits the qualifications you've got just as good of a chance to get in as a dude with $150000 in his rig. Would keep things fun, even though a lot of the people that would get in wouldn't stand a chance

How would you know? What have you ever raced? (honest question)

I specifically said it wasn't just one race. It's a lifestyle that I started to dabble in but opted out of.

edit: Also, I never said my entire view of racing is based on that. That's just my experience. I'd say that my entire view would be based on the experiences I had combined with stories I've heard from others, all the race prep I used to do when I worked at the shop, the stories I've heard from others who have raced cars, motorycles, dirt bikes, and karts.

I forgot, it's not a 'race' so much as a competition, but SAE Supermileage Vehicle fits the bill too. Show up, run your junk, see who wins kind of setting.

I have 0 racing experience and never claimed to have any. Did I run track? Have I run a triathalon with Kate? YES. Do I even REMOTELY consider those "racing experience"? HELL NO.

I've been around my uncle and my father as well as all of their friends for my ENTIRE life that street raced their cars as well as some who used to do bracket racing. I'm talking caged, tubbed, frame reinforced, D60s, blown big blocks, etc. constantly since I could walk/talk.

Do I even consider that second hand racing experience?

BARELY.

I'm not trying to be an asshole here, but making a blanket comment about a motorsports race after having been in even a few mountain bike races is just ignorant.

I know JACK about Line Mtn races or anything and don't claim to know anything. Why do you think I ask Chris so many questions?

How the XXXX did this turn into an attack on me? I never said I was a pro and I never commented on proper racing technique or even offered suggestions. I just made a broad statement that most people don't know what it is to truly race something. In fact, I never even claimed to be an amazing competitor, just that I'd been around those who were. You even agree with me, so what the hell is the problem?

Lighten the fawk up, dude.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Jot a 99' XJ and an old style OEM swing out rear bumper mount spare tire rack. Can anyone point me to the thread that used to be on here as to how to mod this to fit my XJ ?

Tanks, tm

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So far we've had our daily dose of:

Bill disputing a price
Colin mentioning his family's cars/engines
Colin unwarrantedly attacking me
Travis asking for a 440

Now we just need Carmelo to bust in and make some random posts

edit: wow, talk about random.

I don't think I know what thread you're talking about. Are you having a hard time getting good results with NAXJA's search engine? You might have better luck going to google and typing "site: naxja.org/forum 'query'"

Um...I'm not attacking you, so relax

All I'm saying is THIS statement:

Most people have no clue what it's actually like to compete and do something as hard and fast as you can. It really is a totally different world.

makes it sound like you live in some "racing world" and have some secret wealth of knowledge that 90% of the world doesn't know, when in reality you've had very limited exposure to anything that could be considered racing, let alone motorsports related.

That's the way it came off to me. Sorry if it came out as an attack.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll be getting back from Germany the Friday morning before the first line mountain race. Awesome.

I also have the opportunity to layover in Amsterdam for a while, sounds interesting.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yep, no luck on this site engine search. About 2 years ago a member posted pics and details of how to do this mod. Thanks for your suggestion. I'll let everyone get back to their bickering now. Thanks. tm

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I agree with anthony, competition is competition. Whether its on a bike or in a jeep its still been the same feeling for me. You either love it or you don't.

I just stopped because I was tired of getting my ass kicked all the time. :D

 Ditto on the last part, I quit track because I sucked at it.

But anything motorsports related gives me an adrenaline rush unlike any other sport. Just going to drag strips gets me way more pumped then anything else.

No prob

This is the Internet, no bickering ever happens here. These are honest-to-God real life arguments that actually make a difference.
