THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

adam, sounds cool. wtf are those and are they cool for go fast or cool for crawling or just plain goddamn awesome?

both. triple bypass means you can play with the valving without tearing the shock apart. theyre basically what KOH rigs use.

i feel like i should get those just for bragging rights

i would own them already if they were 12s... 16 is waaay to long to even attempt to make work.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Whats the best thing about getting up at 4am for work? Im already done and have all afternoon to play :D

I would get up at 4AM every day if I had this option. Problem is that even if I get up and start working that early I am getting emails from our CA team until at least 8PM and I am almost expected to reply to them and answer any questions so that the CA team can keep working rather than delaying shit because they need feedback from me.

Long story short it's better for me to go to work late than it is to start early :(

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why the heck is everyone all of a sudden have hardons for all these huge expensive shocks? Seriously, I remember when 5150s used to be big, expensive shocks.

As for all this "go fast" business, we don't live in the desert, no one here have prerunners, you don't do "go fast." You might occasionally go on a section of road and drive a little fast, but I really don't see a need for quadruple remote shaft with 5 resevoir shocks, we are prerunners.

(Exception is chris, he actually races his)

What're bill's coilovers? could they work on a not full body xj?

AMEN.... my rig is getting white bodies for now then maybe some 5150s but I cant justify spending BANK on shocks... I wont do enough high speed shit for it to justify buying them...

I'm planning on doing at least 1 Line Mtn race this year, and whatever other races I can afford to go to.

However, I still have coils/leafs and I only spent $200 more total to get 7100s.

Should be fun enough for me.

I only want airbumps so I can skydrive without breaking my MJ in half.

chris's coilovers arent even crazy. theyre simple resi coilovers. i've always wanted to get some nasty shocks, i almost bought 4 7100s instead of 5150s 2-3 years ago. they just dampen better, i like going fast. you need dampening to go fast, more resis/bigger shocks to KEEP going fast... bc theyll overheat. i personally like the way the jeep handles with the stiffer stuff.

16" is just too long for a full body xj.. period.

because 5150's dont come valved stiff enough for effective skydriving.

and my foas arent even expensive. i paid like 140 each. 5150's are what? $100 each?

and the foas are rebuildable. if i blow out a seal, i buy a cheap seal. if i bend a shaft (3/4") i replace the shaft. as opposed to buying another $100 shock that isnt valved to my liking

i can definately run 12's at my height right now believe it or not. but instead im lowering my upper mount lol

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

im planning on 12s front, 14s rear... but i'll be strapped/bumped to less total travel.

then why run the longer shocks?

idk. im happy with the 10" in front.

(insert penis joke here)

used to have 12's but those just caused problems

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i'll have more lift than you.. looking to be at or just under 6"

i'll have to measure the front, but i might end up with 10s there, or maybe a 12" shaft in a 10" body. rear i'll def have longer than needed and strap it.. this way i can mount the shock up into the body or the jeep a bit more.

DATZ WHAT I SAID, DINGBAT! :laugh3:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My entire front suspension is based off of how far up I could stuff my axle before something hit (driveshaft in my case).

Everything else is just a result of that.

I wanted 4" of uptravel, so I dropped the axle 4" from full bump and called that good.

I drooped it until something bound up (driveshaft) so I have 8.5-9" of travel.

Threw some springs in there that worked.

Measured for shocks.

Done.

Colin is dumb. See above post.

I don't feel like looking back. Are those my old springs?

Damping. Damping. Damping.

Dampening is what is going to happen to us racing in the rain on Saturday.
