Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My several year financial plan:
- finish jeep
- pay off student loans ($10k left)
- save for a house

Don't need to make a plan for those. Buy a house whenever I feel I have a substantial downpayment.

You still coming up tonight at 6?
Yeah, it feels good. And nothing ever works without a plan. Now I just need to stick to it.

After the mess I'm in is resolved I'll reevaluate where my $ is going and probably double my car payment, buy jeep parts (cash only), and start saving a bit more religiously. I took a good hard look at how much $ I'm pissing away each month and it was sort of frustrating.

Yep. I'll be at your house by 6.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My bank account is currently feeling mighty light right now :( though it will feel VERY nice to throw out those payment books for the car loan tonight :D

My financial plan:
  • Pay off Altima tonight
  • Sell Altima for $3,000 profit (should be fairly easy since I put a large down payment on it originally and my loan is relatively small now)
  • Buy 'new' car for $3000-$5000 so I spend no more than $2k out of my house savings
  • Pay off student loans ($6000-$7000 left IIRC) or continue saving towards a house

It will be nice to eliminate that $330 monthly car payment. Jeep fits in the plan somewhere since I'm actually motivated to work on it now () but it falls into a "spend money when I want to buy stuff" kind of category.

I have to sneeze but I really would rather not... i wonder how long I can put this off

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Travis why don't you want to sneeze? The only time I've ever wanted to not sneeze was when my nose was broken. Any other time - let em fly.

Tried that earlier. It ended up going explosive with snot out of my nose and the whole nine yards while in the hallway at school...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My replacement phone costs $99. I talked to Verizon the first time my screen went blank, a new phone starts at $200-$300 if you don't have an upgrade, and that is not even a smart phone.
Careful with that... idk how Verizon is but with Sprint I only need to pay the $100 deductible if the phone is lost or has water damage. Just about any other problem is free replacement if I bring it to a store.

I have had a deductible for years went through maybe 4-5 phones since 2004. I only paid the deductible once when I lost a phone (maybe twice.. I cant remember anymore). Every other replacement was free (other issues I had were screen blanking out on me, keyboard stopped working, plastic trim pieces broke and made power button useless). I'm very glad that's how Sprint does the insurance because almost all of my problems have been due to shitty phones, not because of abuse.

Funny, every time I try to plan for something it doesn't work out.. when I don't make a strict plan is when it does work out. :dunno:

Every time I make and follow strict financial plans towards some purchase or goal I end up losing my job or with some huge/unexpected bill all of a sudden. This time I made loose plans and just follow the basic rule of "only spend money if I have the cash to pay for it"

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wtf people. I have now received a few emails from folks asking what the lowest I will accept on the Altima is saying that they will come with cash...

...no shit Sherlock. You will come with cash or a bank check to buy the car. I don't plan on financing you. I'm not a dealership so saying that you are offering cash is not an incentive for me to sell it at a lower price :smsoap:

Ya, and that is not how Verizon works. If the phone is messed up because its the phone's fault, then verizon replaces it. If I break it, loose it, etc, I pay to replace it through Asurion insurance company.

Heh, I'm totally the other way. If I don't have a plan for the $ before I get it I end up buying something I shouldn't. If I get it and put it right where it needs to go, I'm all set and don't buy anything that I truly can't afford.

Yup. Same.. but I may even be able to get free replacements for broken screens and stuff. One time I went in with a problem that could have been blamed on abuse and they took it back and ordered me a new one. I asked if I had to pay and they said no, ONLY for water damage or a lost phone.

I don't remember what happened to your phone so I can't comment, but from the sounds of what I was told anything other than water damage is considered serviceable. If it is serviceable then a repair center will try to fix the phone and, if they cant, they will replace it with a brand new (or refurb) phone for free (or at a minimum charge for parts used).

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Received word that my PRP window nets 'might have shipped, they were supposed to be done friday, you might see them today.'

Um, thanks...?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

WTF?

Did you call them yet?

I didn't deal with them directly, I went through Tim @ Liquid Iron because he's a friend of mine and I like giving him business when I can.

To be fair, it's not his fault, that was the last information that he received from them. He says in his experience they're notoriously terrible with tracking numbers and he's gonna check into it for me.
