THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah it didn't take but a few seconds for the oil pressure to build, but I still cranked if for a few more after to ensure that I got the top end lubed before starting.

You're making headway, I have faith! Stinks about the needed patch job, but at least it is only one side.

bothsides needed patch jobs, pass side is a little worse though, im not wooried about em bein to great as the rockers will take most if not all the stress now, the nice weather is really helping my motivation, i can expect to get a stupid amount of work done once the semester is over at keene state, things could get crazy in the next few weeks we had a few peaple leave already makin us short staffed, on the plus side it could mean for more OT fo me

You'll have a case waiting for you. :D

Got the new spare tire all patched up tonight w/tube inside, everything looks great. First time in 4 years I'll have a functioning spare.

I got the Dirtbound Offroad electric fan thing today, it looks great, but as much as I am a believer in GSD...not gonna happen outside in the worst thunderstorm we've had in months. That can wait til tomorrow.

I'm a little nervous about not hearing back from PRP lately on my window nets, that are supposed to be here tomorrow, that I haven't been billed for yet. May end up ordering universal Summit ones to fill the gap, shipped overnight of course, if I don't get good news tomorrow...

So high-40's, pouring rain, driving 50+ MPH with no windshield...why am I excited for this weekend, again?

and its supposed to be uber nice tomorrow and friday there. gaaaaay. i'll be warm and dry in my tent.. actually.... XXXX. i think i retired my old 3-4 man eureka last season.. that means i only have my dry-weather only 8 man and 4 man store brand specials, and my single man MSR. hmmmm.. i'll have to check my attic tonight and possibly pick up a new tent, gonna need it this wheeling season anyway.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wade how long did u let it run? how long has the motor sat? it took a couple minuts for the oil to get to the valve train on my 95 after it sat for 2.5 years without oil

Exactly. I let the cranked the engine over (no spark or fuel, disconnected) on the starter for a good minute or so to build some oil pressure before reconnected the electrical and fuel and I started mine after it sat for a couple of years.

I cranked it for a good amount prior to it running because it couldnt get fuel to it so it definatly would have primed.. I ran it for maybe a minute or two at a time... definatly thinking the oil pump is clogged

I'm sleeping in a big ol' box trailer. (edit: or maybe the little-person bed in Lou Levy's rolling luxury suite)

The passenger side wiper arm on the CTD quit working today; of course it failed in the 'up' position instead of 'down' and jammed the other arm in the process. Had to pull over in the rain and untangle them. Currently operating in uniwiper mode.

This happened before, like over 3 years ago...the ball/socket joint on the wiper arm had worn out and popped apart. I did some kinda goofy fix with bailing wire to hold it all together...honestly I'm surprised it lasted this long.

That's pretty low on the priority list right now though.

Saw that candle before but still: mmmm, bacon.

And damn, I haven't listened to them in years, you might have just decided what I'm listening to on the ride home.

And idk why I didn't think of it during the discussion about busted phones, but Anthony, if you cancel your landline phone service and need to make an emergency call (or activate a replacement cell phone) you could always just sign up for a [dirt cheap] skype account or use that new google phone service.. Rather than than paying full price for phone why not just use some VOIP service.

I got hungry when I saw that pic.

Neat solution, but if I cancel home internet and my smart phone is dead... See where that's going? Who knows what I'll actually do. It would be a good way to watch less tv and read more books while saving $...

I dunno, I didn't have a home phone last year and I was fine. The only calls I ever get are fawking telemarketers...

I was rockin to Opeth this morning. Deliverance and Baying of the Hounds. Same deal.

Regarding the tv/internet/phone thing...I'm at $140/month for the package. I originally got it as the triple play deal when it was $100/month for all 3.

I haven't used the phone service once, and I watch cable TV maybe a few times a month if that. I use the digital music sometimes.

They make it such a gigantic pain in the ass to not have all 3, that the few times I've looked into it, I've gotten annoyed and put it off. I probably wouldn't miss the TV service though and definitely not the phone.

Verizon FIOS isn't available by me; I could get Verizon DSL though. But then I think I'd need to get standard phone service too, right?

 Haven't listened to Opeth in a long time. I can't ever remember their songs... I'll youtube it later.

Mine was $100/mo when I signed up too. Now it's magically up to $120/mo. It's Charter, FWIW.

I watch cable tv a little more frequently than you. Never use music.

Yes, yes they do make it a pain.

Same. In fact, Charter has a monopoly on my area. I think you can get Verizon DSL without having Verizon landline, but I'm not 100% on that. I know the signal comes in as one line then gets filtered, so what's the reason that they can't turn on one service and not another?

That's why I recommended keeping only internet.

I'm pretty sure all cable companies in MA have agreed to stay out of each other's service areas or something. That's why there is rarely more than one cable provider in any given area.. Around my area it's all Comcast.

Yeah you can get comcast cable or verizon DSL in my town but there is rarely (if ever) competition between comparable cable services, e.g. charter vs comcast cable or comcast cable vs verizon FIOS. it's always cable vs DSL or something like that.

Edit: or maybe it's not that they explicitly agreed to stay out of service areas but with old laws it apparently took 1-2 years to get the required approvals to offer cable service in any given area so it wasn't really deemed profitable to move in and try and 'win' customers over from another cable provider as opposed to moving into an area with no existing cable service in the first place... but that still leaves us with limited cable options anywhere in the state.

Uh, wow. Guess I haven't looked at this lately.

Verizon DSL, 1.5-3Mbps, free modem with online signup, no phone service required, $35/mo.

They send you all the stuff 1-2 days before your activation date, and you just plug it in and go. No scheduling installation service or anything like that.

My next bill with the current provider hits on the 22nd, maybe I'll change after that. I guess I'll need to give them back the cable box and cable modem though...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You can actually set yourself up with Comcast but they do EVERYTHING in their power to tell you that you can't so you have to have one of their techs come out.

My buddy had comcast up in Maine during college and they kept messing up his scheduled times to have internet installed. Eventually he went to the Comcast store and they said "do you want try and install it yourself? we have this self install kit if you want to try and do it that way..."

He raged pretty bad since they had told him that a tech had to do the install multiple times and told him there was no do-it-yourself option when he asked.

Nice. Not bad at all.

You probably won't have to give the old modem back. I didn't have to when I changed from Cox in RI to Charter in MA.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I has a 6 month financial plan drawn up. Feels good, but sucks to know that it doesn't leave much spending $ for doing fun things during the summer or buying parts.
