THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yep...

Yep someone beat me. Oh well. For what it's worth, I didn't ever plan on mass producing what I might come up with. Mine will still be different and quite a bit more homebrewed. No fancy intake manifold for this guy. I might end up copying what he did for electrical stuff though. That's my least favorite part, anyway.

Honestly, not sure. Not sure if I even want to get it. I've been thinking a lot about it lately. I know I could finish what I have now, and I kinda want to for several reasons, a few of them being that: it's a cool project, I don't like giving up on things, and I'd probably end up trashing the unibody of the new shell in a year or two anyway. So why not just go straight to the chuggy? (cherokee-buggy) ...There's also the fact that full bodied rigs are badass albeit slightly less durable. I don't know right now...
I still think you should finish it, it'll be badass. If I was in your position I'd get the shell, but just stuff stock axles and 33-34s or so under it and have a blast.

Wow. My orthodontist's office looked nothing like this!

Thats bitchin' :greensmok

Seems like it'd be one of the easier things to do.

How precise does it really need to be? The hole patterns are no secret...

:dunno: My bridgeport is also in need of an overhaul so its kinda outta action anyways. Im not all THAT great with it anyways, the ways and stuff have a bunch of play I guess and I dont really know how to do the precise measurements with it. Maybe next time around, the NWF arms will be here next week which would be alot sooner then me trying to make them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have room for one shell or the other, not both.

Ross, are the ways on your table sloppy? If they're not sloppy, the machine is precise enough. A good vise, and maybe a sine vise, and you should be good to go.

Having a smoothly operating head is nice, but if the belt sucks, your parts should still come out reasonably accurate.

You can't just park the half-a-jeep outside long enough to stuff axles and a motor and whatnot in the other one and get it driveable, then park it outside along the side road your driveway is on?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

When I asked my landlord about getting a truck, he asked if it would be an eyesore. He said as long as it was running and driving, I could get another one. I don't think he'd be a big fan of a XJ indefinitely sitting on the ground...

A lot of towns dont let you park on the road. Mine gets REAL grumpy when there is a car there for more than an hour or more than one vehicle

oh yeah you live in NH.

I live in western mass, where they are happy that you aren't smoking meth and dealing coke. I think at least 5 of my nearest neighbors have 1-2 unregistered vehicles parked in their yards or on the street and they haven't moved in... years.

For the record, that little side street that my driveway is on is technically not a town road. They don't plow it.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you live a little west of Worcester but still in Central MA... Western MA starts @ Belchertown. And in Western, MA, I can nearly guarantee pot is the biggest drug being used. Western, MA = extension of VT. Sturbridge = Outskirts of Worcester.

It's still western enough that the town doesn't care unless you make waves.

As for the jeep - I didn't mean get it and let it sit around forever on the frame, I meant to make it budget-wheelable and park it. Since that would imply driveable (most days) I don't think there'd be a problem.

Start counting turns on the leadscrews. :D

Excessive backlash in any of the movements should still be adjustable; I had to maintain the leadscrews on our machines at school pretty regularly.

Okay, wanna come over and show me how to do it? :D

I gotta order the new belts and stuff for the top end cause one belt is scary. I also gotta oil it. I just beat the crap outta it basically.

I want to reach through my computer screen and smack you right now.

GET THE NEW SHELL!

That would end poorly for your fancy new monitor.

Ross, backlash and play in the ways are two different things. Does the table clunk around when you turn the handle? Specifically, right as the backlash gets soaked up is when you are most likely to feel/hear/see a clunk.

I have a feeling scuba diving gear is going to eat up some of my funds very soon.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yes, because of all that beautiful undersea life in New England...

Maybe I just got spoiled living overseas, but the stuff under the water here is boring and the visibility is terrible.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

shouldnt be.. just new and reman.

get a new one.. i went through 4 autozone remans in 2 years.
theres your issue right there, ive ran a few diff reman pumps on a couple diff xj's with no isses
jealous that Simon was sitting inside of a Bugatti when she saw him.
not sure whats so cool about there cars
Thats funny.... I just looked at that pic and my immediate thought was that it looked like M trail at PAP, but didn't think it was since it was a RHD van... The line behind and to the left of the van looks like the beginning of an obstacle called "Pete's Jeep Opener" on M.
Fixed!

Yes actually, because of the abundance of undersea life in New England, the abundance of shipwrecks, etc. The reason why you can't see 50 feet down in crystal clear waters like other places, is because the water here is not dead, it has nutrients and can support life. The reason why you only see fish and animals really around reefs in tropical places is because the water can't support life elsewhere.

I've sat through quite a few classes where we have had to learn about all the different types of eel, fish, shark, etc that are around here.

Um...how does a full-bodied rig get junked in 2 years...?

My XJ made it 2 years with no stiffeners locked/locked on 35s with me wheeling it every other weekend.

I'm pretty sure a well-thought out plan will last longer.
