THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

jesus, what is even the point of that? Is it intended to break every bolt it touches?

My only guess is that it's so you can use it on a regular impact wrench turned all the way down without having to find a 1/2 to 3/8 impact adapter.

Id use it for removal of stuff to make things faster... Ive been working out of my buddys full loaded mac box with access to his 1/2 and 3/8 electric impacts and im in heaven It makes jobs sooo much faster

2 sets of tools > 1 set of tools

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Reason #20935809258 that MJs > XJs: studs at both ends of the rear shocks instead of bolts at the top end. I didn't even break em on my crusty piece of shit, they came right off.

Wow, that is pretty frickin awesome.

Anybody wanna buy my XJ?

Exactly. I have plenty of sockets before I bought that complete set. Works out great because now I've got 2 or 3 of the most common sizes and it allows me to put a socket on both the bolt head and the nut. Same thing applies for wrenches. Multiples in the same size are never a bad thing.
You can never have too many tools, only not enough storage space.
Speaking from the gospel of man here.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thanks for the link, but I've already got most of the sizes. I just never picked up the complete 'big wrench' kit.

Maybe it would be worth it to get this set then bring my old stuff along for wheeling trips. I would want to have a dedicated tool set for wheeling, anyway... Too bad it's going to be a long time before I need that.
I have everything I really need in a canvas tote (which is not up to the task, and is quickly coming apart at the seams) - I wedge it between the back seat and the back of the passenger seat. Bring it to the junkyard too. It has basically every single tool I have ever needed to work on any part of my jeep, except for a 12 point deep impact socket to remove the driver side head bolts. Weighs like 70lbs so it does get tiring to carry into the yard.

truer words have never been spoken. I'll take one good quality wrench over five bad quality ones though.

EDIT: there is one place where you can have too many tools. It is known as jeepforum.

I couldn't carry all of the hand tools I own at once, much less fit them all in one carry size box.

Discussions have been started with our friend at Lista about rectifying the storage situation of my tools :)

Really?

Arlo Guthrie, man! The Motorcycle Song.
It read like something that would be from him, but I wasn't sure either.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

This is the truth... My box is full yet theres always room for more tools

My 20ft shipping container is full, but I still want more MORE MORE!!!

I used to carry pretty much every tool in my rollaway snap on box in black jeep. When I went to school in WY I kept everything in there all the time. Easily 200+ lbs of stuff, but I always had everything I needed. Im talking all 1/4,3/8,1/2" sockets/BJ press/torque wrenchs/every wrench I own/electrical tools/etc....

I guess I missed that day in music class.

I don't think Ken was talking about all his tools, just the ones that are really needed.

Wow.

Forget wheeling - I would hate just driving around with that much crap.

I quit trying to be everyone else's hero a long time ago. Now I've distilled everything down to the bag that I keep in the XJ. If I need it to work on my rig, it's in there...if I don't, it's taking up valuable space.

It rode better with it loaded. Those SJ 6.5" leafs rode horrible with no wieght, once I added tons of weight from all my tools and rear bumper, it rode like butter. I like being a hero I guess, Ive had people turn to me all the time cause I was the only one that always had the correct tool. Id rather have everything I need and do a trail fix thats good enough to be perment. No need to half ass stuff when you got all you need.

x2.

I never kept a dedicated bag in my XJ though. I always just packed a box the night before wheeling.

Only brought a small assortment, enough to fit in a small 18x10x10" tool box.
