THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Definitely.

Oh...little side note:

My first truck ('85 Dodge Ram) I bought from this guy down the street from me. He had the truck sitting there for the first 2 years I was in high school. I finally went down there during the summer before my junior year and bought it for $300 (after borrowing $200 from my mom ).

Fast forward to recent years, he has had a '91-93 Dodge Ram sitting there for the past like 5-10 years (can't even remember anymore). I THINK it's a CTD, as I'm pretty sure I can barely make out the red lettering below the RAM emblem on the fender. It doesn't look to be in terrible shape, reg cab/long bed. Not even sure if it's a 4x4.

If it's a 4x4/CTD, I'm going to do what I did almost 10 years ago and leave him a note saying I'll buy it cheap.

:D
if it's a 5.9/5spd/4x4 you know who to call... :D

(91-93 isn't quite what I'm looking for since it's the 5.9 LA V8 not the 5.9 Magnum V8, but at those kinds of prices it's a 'sacrifice' I'm willing to make :roflmao:)

That'll be Colin's drive-it-to-the-trail wheelin rig. BE DIVERSE!!!!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If it's a CTD/5spd/4x4 I'm keeping it for myself.

If for no other reason than to piss everyone else off.

:D
Sounds to me like Colin just volunteered to carry all the stuff I need carried/towed. :moon:

This could be the solution to my neediness

I wouldn't care.

I'd just charge more than the truck was worth per trip.

"Yeah first gens got terrible fuel mileage dude..."

Plenty of profit.

:D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

well i dont want another loan for something i can only use for 5 months out of the year. if its for a DD ill do it.
5 months? Pssh, you're already riding. You can get 8-9 months some years. But I see your point. CTDs are nice and good year round.

When did Ross take over Colin's computer?

And did you get your tube adapters?

Is it comfortable riding in 30 degree weather...?

Honest question, I've never ridden before.

I'd probably agree with Bob in that 5 months tops. Winters are long up here.

 I'm just kidding. If it is a CTD and he wants anything over $1000 for it then I'd throw it up here for someone to get. I don't need another project, and I'd really rather focus on the '70 Duster next year.

Nope not yet. Ross and I apologized to each other after that blow out . I've been immensely stressed out between work, capstone, my other class homework/presentation/final, and getting my MJ done in time for NACfest. He had a rough day at work too.

35*F is where it starts to really really suck. Between 35* and 50* it only sucks a little bit. 50*-75* is great. 85* and up is too hot. It all depends what gear you have... I know people with heated jackets and gloves. Equipment like that really extends the riding season and makes it a lot more enojoyable to ride @ 35*.

This time last year I was already riding to work multiple times a week. It depends on the year...

I figure that my riding season starts around mid-March and goes to Thanksgiving or so, depending on when the first snowfall is. Now, this isn't commuting daily, but maybe a short joyride on the weekend or being able to commute.

$1k for a first gen truck with a 5spd and a solid frame and decent body would be a smoking deal.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Makes sense. I guess it depends on how much you want to spend on equipment too.

Yeah I don't have a rush need for a truck, and neither did I when I bought my first one.

When we were there for that, he initially wanted $700 and dropped right down to $300 when we started walking away . So who knows, maybe he expects like $5000 for it, but I'll say no more than $500 or something. To me it's just another stupid project that I don't need.

Even if I were to part it out I don't know where I'd keep half the stuff. The 5spd would be useless to me (not an NV4500) and the engine alone weighs >1k lbs. I'd probably keep the front axle for shits and giggles (KP Dodge D60 - should be internal hub) and the rear axle as a spare (auto - D70, 5spd - D80).

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Also, you planning on stuffing that in an XJ or something?
:shhh:

The 5.9/5spd would end up in the Comanche. The axles would end up in a super secret project which I will not describe till I have a donor vehicle on hand so I'm sure it's actually happening, because I don't like talking about stuff I may not actually do.

I drove a 5.2 ZJ a while ago after doing a brake job on it and have been wanting a V8 ever since. Just seems logical to use a 5.9 if I can get one cheap enough, and like hell I'm putting a chryco slushbox in anything, so of course I'm looking for a cheap donor that already has a suitable 5/6spd in it.

This won't happen till like next year but I'm keeping my eye out for cheap swap donors till then, I figure with enough lead time I can wait for the best deal possible to come along.

Yeah, there is the price of equipment... But riding is sweet. It clears the head like few other things can. I'd rather be cold and happy than pissed off and temperate.

V8s are cool...but honestly going to a stock small block isn't much of a gain. You have to build it to get the gain.

Going to a big block on the other hand...

:D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Speaking of being pissed off...

The guy who sent me "Anthonies' Data Set" yesterday just pulled another one. I can't stand working with this guy. He won't answer most of my questions in an email. It's like reading a post from a forum n00b- all gibberish, no organization, bad grammar. It would save everyone a lot of time if people took some time to proof read what they are about to send.

It's enough for me and looks like it should go in without too much packaging.

HO 4.0: 190HP, 235 ft-lbs
HO 5.9: 230HP, 330 ft-lbs

Not a huge gain (20% horsepower, 40% torque) but I really felt it driving that ZJ.
