THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So over the weekend I was running around with a fellow race team, TR Motorsports. I've been wheeling with those guys forever and the co-driver Rob brought his brother along, so I took him for a few laps.

He's also a photo geek so he took a shit-ton of pictures over the weekend. He got this one of me completely without me noticing, and did it up all professional-like before surprising me with it.

I was really just out taking a break and looking over the truck when he took that. Fun stuff.

Should be some decent video coming in the next few days.

edit: This is the other rig, in case any of you guys have seen it:

And to keep my standing in the GSD club:

- took out the fans & radiator...looks like one of the fans ate the radiator and the cooling system now holds zero pressure. Gonna see if the local place can repair it, if not, new one incoming...
- disassembled the CV on my old spare driveshaft and rebuilt the current driveshaft with all good parts, also replaced the center ball.
- confirmed random CV yoke off the shelf is the exact one I need to put it back together
- confirmed air filter is beyond shot and sourced the K&N replacement, should be ordering that soon. Big difference in throttle response with it gone.
- did a shit-ton more welding on the trailer repair project
- came up with a half-ass plan for the door bars, which I may attempt this weekend

Tomorrow I guess I'll try and get the driveshaft back in, clean up the radiator, and start going over everything else to generate the prep list for April 16.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So this is gonna be a fun day.

One of the reasons I end up doing a lot of weird stuff here at work is because we're a fairly small office, so we all cover where we can to keep things going. But apparently today I get to do the job of 4 other people - my boss, our head sales manager, our production manager, and the guy who does support for replacement/existing installations are all out.

On a given day I can usually handle one of those in addition to my own stuff, but aside from the front desk and the guys in the shop, I'm literally the only person here today.

Shoulda stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night...think I'm gonna lean back, close my eyes, and wait for the shitstorm to arrive. :D

My ideal 2nd gen:

2002 QC/SB 4x4 CTD/NV5600 Sport. I don't care what color. Red or Blue would be sweet (this kid I know from PA has the blue one below, can't remember if it's an 01 or 02)

2002 was the only year the front D60 didn't have the CAD. 94-01 all had CAD no matter if it was a D44 or D60.

NV5600 meant you had the HO version of the CTD (only available 00-02 IIRC), aka stiffer valve springs, and a few other extras. I think it added something like 15-20 hp and 40-50 lb ft of torque.

I like the Sport look better. 99% of the time they came with everything my Laramie has except for the woodgrain accents. Sports had a way better 2-bulb headlamp design has superior output.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

most of them are essentially a frontend for a very simple SQL query... something like "SELECT * FROM posts WHERE username = 'asp' AND forumid = 22 AND post_text LIKE `%no%bus%` ORDER BY last_post_date DESC" would be a search for all posts you've made mentioning the words "no" and "bus" in North Atlantic Chapter, in descending order by date*. The problem is that as the words get shorter, the number of matches (and spurious matches that have nothing to do with what you want) goes up, and so does the load on the database server. Searching for words with under 3 characters *in general* is just going to lag the hell out of the server with no real good results. Obviously our specific usage (OHC, ARB, D35, 8.25, 231, 242, AW4... etc) is somewhat of an anomaly though. Since forum search engines are usually so clunky, google is better anyways because they index/search the whole page.

* I pulled the table and column names completely out of my ass for this example. I haven't got the slightest clue how vBulletin arranges the db table schemas...
That's sort of what I thought, but if 'no bus' turns up so many hits and our abbreviations like ARB or D44 don't turn up nearly as many, is there a way to set it up to recognize what will probably happen without having a manually managed database of safe words?

I'm not arguing. Google does work way better, but it would be nice to see the search engine on this and many other forums be improved. For example, vwvortex is probably the biggest forum I can think of and they have the worst search engine I can think of.
you need to root and rom your android dev.. then you'll have nasty battery life. i can use mine heavily all day and have battery from 7am to midnight.. gps, facebook, calls, texts, web surfing, streaming...

if i dont do much on it and keep everything off i get at least two days out of it.

just dont be a pussy and get to hacking.
I thought of booty bounce when I read this the first time

...hmm. we'll see about that. I don't know how I stand on it. I have another couple days to decide if I want to sign up for the insurance or not too.
I found a dead kitten today :(
Dinner!

How's your hide healing? I'm sort of not surprised that the bike was totalled. Like you said, fairings are really expensive. How did they rule as far as who was at fault?

Met my dad in Uxbridge last night and got my wallet. Went to a gun store in the process :) Handled a few Savages, they had a M1 Garand in pretty nice shape, couple 10/22's... It's too bad you can't dry fire a rimfire rifle. I wanted my dad to feel the accu-trigger.

I think this is the one I want. It will need a scope.
BestShotSavage.jpg

For the 10/22 owners out there - the one I was playing with had a very finicky slide release. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. I know that all guns need to break in a bit, especially semi autos, but I expected a little bit more consistency than that.

sadly, not really. To figure out how many results you have on a query involving a LIKE you pretty much have to sort through the same data either way... without having a safe word dictionary to tell the search engine which short words to permit, it can't tell what's going to waste a ton of cycles and what's going to be useful. And that would involve an awful lot of customizing vBulletin... so we just foist the overhead off on Google :roflmao:

Glad to hear it.

Why not get another bike?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i dont really want another loan. plus DD'ing my jeep sucks lol.
Well, CTD's are waaaay more expensive than bikes. So I'm not sure what your plan is.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Definitely.

Oh...little side note:

My first truck ('85 Dodge Ram) I bought from this guy down the street from me. He had the truck sitting there for the first 2 years I was in high school. I finally went down there during the summer before my junior year and bought it for $300 (after borrowing $200 from my mom ).

Fast forward to recent years, he has had a '91-93 Dodge Ram sitting there for the past like 5-10 years (can't even remember anymore). I THINK it's a CTD, as I'm pretty sure I can barely make out the red lettering below the RAM emblem on the fender. It doesn't look to be in terrible shape, reg cab/long bed. Not even sure if it's a 4x4.

If it's a 4x4/CTD, I'm going to do what I did almost 10 years ago and leave him a note saying I'll buy it cheap.

:D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I should mention that not all bikes are cheaper than CTDs, but for the bikes Bob, me, and Sam ride the rule of thumb holds true. Some Ducs and Harleys fetch a ridiculous amount of coin.

That would be sweet if you could get that. Even better if it's manual :)
