GPS: battery rape
surfing the interwebs: battery rape
SSH to my VPS to get ahold of my friends so they can pick me up from the side of the road to go get my spare steering box bolts: battery rape
screen staying on: battery rape

It'll last a couple days if I leave it the hell alone. When using it as a GPS unit and getting stranded on the side of the road and using it to get ahold of people to help me, I have killed the battery three times in one day.

Fortunately mine will charge off a regular mini-USB cable or an HTC ExtUSB, so basically any smartphone car charger will work and I will likely build one into my dash eventually.

I looked at my usage before my batt died. There were a bunch of things that killed the life, but the display had eaten 78% with less than 5% life remaining 5%. I haven't tried streaming Pandora all day long yet. Mayhaps that will be tomorrow. I think it's going to depend whether you're using the display for GPS or websurfing or something like that or on the other end if the display is off and you're constantly talking to the network through something like Pandora... I think the display will eat the battery fastest which is why so many apps turn off the display when it times out but continue to run.

I already have a cig lighter -> USB and the phone charger is USB -> Micro USB. So really I just need another USB -> micro usb cable to leave in the car. For now I'll just keep the cable with me a little more religiously.

so how would i search "no bus" into the naxjas?

i remember reading something about it. and my buddy is having an issue where his jeep is dead and he gets that on the odometer

Furthermore, why do most of the search engines that forums use suck? If you type something, it should search it no matter what, right? I'm expecting an answer from Ken, Bill, Chris, or Adam (LI) on this one...

most of them are essentially a frontend for a very simple SQL query... something like "SELECT * FROM posts WHERE username = 'asp' AND forumid = 22 AND post_text LIKE `%no%bus%` ORDER BY last_post_date DESC" would be a search for all posts you've made mentioning the words "no" and "bus" in North Atlantic Chapter, in descending order by date*. The problem is that as the words get shorter, the number of matches (and spurious matches that have nothing to do with what you want) goes up, and so does the load on the database server. Searching for words with under 3 characters *in general* is just going to lag the hell out of the server with no real good results. Obviously our specific usage (OHC, ARB, D35, 8.25, 231, 242, AW4... etc) is somewhat of an anomaly though. Since forum search engines are usually so clunky, google is better anyways because they index/search the whole page.

* I pulled the table and column names completely out of my ass for this example. I haven't got the slightest clue how vBulletin arranges the db table schemas...

im getting bored with the cherry bomb turbo muffler on the 98, im thinkin about tossing on the flowmaster 50 from the blue jeep on it this week, having add really sucks

you need to root and rom your android dev.. then you'll have nasty battery life. i can use mine heavily all day and have battery from 7am to midnight.. gps, facebook, calls, texts, web surfing, streaming...

if i dont do much on it and keep everything off i get at least two days out of it.

just dont be a pussy and get to hacking.

i brought my phone in completely bricked to the verizon store and they replaced it no questions asked. they cant tell if it was rooted or not if its completely shot... just do a backup and youll be fine.

Carmelo if you ever see a 94-02 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 with a 5.9 gas, NV35/45/5600, 4x4, and ECU all equipped and intact go through your dad's yard let me know how much he wants for it. I don't care if it's SRW or DRW, nor what the body and cab look like, all I want is the motor/tranny/ECU/maybe transfer case. I'll buy the whole thing if I have to. Not in any kind of a hurry, I won't have time to get this project started for a long time anyways just starting to keep my eye open for parts at the right price.
