THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh that sucks dude, hope everything works out.

Full bodied is the easiest  Fitting the airshocks will be tough though.

5 seconds to cut off the front crossmember with a sawzall. Then just clean up with the grinder. Done.

Why would you even bother keeping that around?
Thanks. We'll see where things go... It's been weighing on me pretty heavily for a while and only recently have I brought it up with her.

Airshocks in the back won't be hard, just gonna involve some extra snipping, sealing, and tube inside. The front will get done pretty much the same way, except not dove nosed.

What about all the reinforcement it's tied into? Still a PITA. We'll see...

Haha... touche...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

luckily it was still cool out, so i had a hoodie and long sleeve shirt. i got a little on my arm. the ground burnt right through my glove so the back of my hand is bad. Huge bruise and road rash on my hip and road rash on my shin only had shitty jeans on. i learned a lot.
1 never wearing shorts.
2 never going without gloves.
3 Getting a jacket.
4 after getting new fairings im getting a cage for the bike.
I'm sorry to say that it took something like this to teach you but very happy that you're not giving up on riding. A lot of people won't get back on... If you want to talk about gear sometime, you have my #. I did a lot of research when I bought most of my stuff 2 yrs ago.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What about it?

Sawzall close to the 2x6, grind the rest down.
You so smaht. It'd be super easy to clean it up on a Bridgeport... Ugh. Having real tools then having them taken away sucks.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm thinking of starting from scratch and re-making the front crossmember. It would be a huge PITA to clean it up and I'm betting I could make the second one a lot faster.

If you do this I want the front couple feet of your frame rails :)

You already called first dibs. It would go to you if it went anywhere.

Hell, you can come make one here if you want to.

Ouch, yeah its good to hear your not too bad. Get that bike fixed up and heal quick... its gonna be prime riding weather soon!!! This is the time of year that I miss having a bike... I might have to pick something up to buzz around on again...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

We should graft the front of his build now onto another xj front and try to drive at the same time. :explosion
It would be rear wheel steer :gee:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not really, sawzalls or bridgeports don't like to mill through weld.

Sawzall + mill don't go together. That was like Ross trying to say grinder and machine in the same sentence.

I just meant cut off the frame side, then grind the welds on the front down and pull it off.

NBD.

No, but it can be done. Just takes patience. Grinding through that much weld sucks too.

Prolly what will happen.

How's that lathe doing? Still collecting dust?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I haven't had the chance to set it up yet, let alone play with it.

Table is kind of floppy and not in an ideal place (it's next to my dad/brothers cars ).

I can just see your brother going to use it, not quite knowing what he's doing and sending a bunch of hot blue chips at that nice orange coat of paint.

Make sure it gets setup somewhere where that won't happen.

Getting the table level is important. If the whole thing is flexing the lands will be un-square w.r.t. the spindle and your radius tolerance along the length of the lathe can be off big time.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wellllllllllllllllllllll just read this off the MASS RMV

SPECIAL RULES
FOR MOTORCYCLES

Do not ride along pavement lines or between lanes of traffic.
Ride no more than two abreast.
Unless your motorcycle can travel safely at minimum posted speeds, do not
travel on highways or expressways.

RESTRICTED LANES You must not ride in lanes posted as restricted, except when preparing for a turn.

does that mean i was not following too close if i was on the side of him?

Well, then that means it's not illegal to ride 2 abreast. That's good for you, but doesn't fix the road rash issue. Btw, did you go to the hospital? Cleaning those wounds out is important. If you're not going to go to the hospital, at least scrub the crap out of them in the shower and when you get out hydrogen peroxide the crap out of em. Then neosporin and gauze and tape. I'm assuming it's too big for a band aid...

I've only ever done it with people I know, never a stranger... I treat strangers like I treat cars.
