last year I was all like "nawwwww man" till 2 weeks before the event and then spur of the moment decided I'd go. This year I intend to wheel even if it means parting the damn thing out at RC / donating the hulk to the park as spare parts / selling it to a junkyard and riding home strapped to someone's roof rack.

We agree up until the 9k lift thing. I've been looking at different lifts for pad requirements and the difference between the 7k and 9k isn't much, the differences in the 9k to the 12k/14k is huge. Everything just jumps in size.

I could understand it if the price difference isn't that great.

But honestly, if the biggest thing going on it is your truck, you're talking about a reserve of 5k to 7k lbs depending on 12-14k capacity.

Kind of a waste to me I guess.

Are those the lift cylinders? You do realize you lift it, then rest it on safety stops before you get under it right? So...that picture really doesn't mean much. If the cylinder can lift it who cares how "beefy" it is?

Again...I'm not saying I disagree with you, it would just depend on the price difference. If it's over $1000...I'd rather spend that money elsewhere.

I'd prefer the larger lift simply because it has more capacity and the lines will run at a lower pressure given the same load and a larger diameter piston, and the pump will last longer when running significantly below max load, but frankly I don't need a lift. Would be nice but not required at all, I can get to everything by just crawling underneath...

There's a salvage yard local to Rausch (Klinger's) that'll come pick up your truck there and give you like $50 for it...at least that's what it was a few years ago last time we had the opportunity.

Some guys brought a beater S10 Blazer and broke a front CV on the first obstacle, so they just left it there. We took it and mobbed it around across the street until it didn't move anymore and the roof was buckled pretty severely from bad landings. Then the salvage guy came with a flatbed and gave us $50 for our efforts.

And btw, what's this this reporting posts/making mods do crap shit? :twak:

Basically just because he's getting old and is tired of laying on the driveway under cars.

Getting under and out from under a ton is tiring, I already am an old man, and working on lifts is just a ton easier. My dad is going to measure when he gets home the ceiling. It is a pretty high ceiling though. I would have to relocate the track and motor for the garage door, but that is an old piece of crap anyways.

Getting a paint booth in one bay, and a lift in the other. The one with the lift is where I'm moving all the tools (welder, drill press, lathe, bandsaw, chopsaw, etc.).

It'll be nice to build a rear 4-link or something on a lift with ALL of my stuff right around me ready to use.

Getting a paint booth in one bay, and a lift in the other. The one with the lift is where I'm moving all the tools (welder, drill press, lathe, bandsaw, chopsaw, etc.).

It'll be nice to build a rear 4-link or something on a lift with ALL of my stuff right around me ready to use.

Well obviously the stops are bigger and I know that. :laugh:

I couldn't find a picture quick comparing them, but here is a picture comparing the posts and then the larger lift stops:

I difference in cost is a bit, but in my eyes worth it and the only way you'll see my under it if something similar to my truck in on it.

I got a ways before I purchase one anyway, but the pad has to be spec'd right when I pour it and hopefully that is coming up.

Think they can pick up a spring-less, tire-less hulk? All I'd want to pull off it is radios, OHC, winch, springs, and wheels/tires, and I would probably just sell it for bottom dollar there and then and build new up here. I'm planning to bring a metric asston of spare parts (like, more than I usually do) but I'm sure something will break that I don't have with me. This is all worst case, best-case I'll have the M54A2 down there and will be hauling the stupid thing home again after.

They look bigger than what we used at Sears, but I'm not sure what they were. Either way I've put everything from H2s to 3/4 ton trucks on them without an issue.

If it's worth it to you then it's worth it.

Pouring for a garage already? YES!
