THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Theres a 14b with two Treps mounted on it under the back of black jeep with one leaf spring mocked in place. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the area where the front hangers will be plated and the hangers/supports tacked in place. I gotta either track down some long shackles or build some too, maybe those new ones Jeff said Crown got will be long enough.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

im gonna run to tractor supply tomorow and get welding wire, then zip home and whip out the rear stiffner for the pass side and mid stiffners for both sides, gonna drill some 3/4 holes and weld the shit, then notch the crossmember and call it a day

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Keith, dumb question, did you bleed the master before installing it? If its not bled the brakes will blow ass.

I run jy calipers as long as they work ok, they've got about the same miles as my stock ones and half the time they come off a better jeep than mine. The hell with it.

Made massive progress on the house today, mostly interior demo and plumbing. Prepped for some roof work that will happen before and after wheeling tomorrow. Hit the jy and got most of what I was after...

I am COVERED in plaster dust.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I will once I can get in touch with this jeep_ray again down in RI.

Some research just told me he is the owner of Jeeps Unlimited.

i got some YJ seats from him i specified no broken bolts in the seats he said yea no problem...i get 2 seats with 7 bolts broken off in them. guy was a total douche on the phone when i called him back. and i have heard the place is a chop shop from several different people.

i would never do business there again

I am COVERED in plaster dust.

Especially with the lathing, that can be a royal pain. Even better if you get one of those walls where it gets way thicker at the bottom.

I spent 7 years working summers doing general contracting...did everything involved in house building, from demo work to foundations to framing to interior finish carpentry. The worst thing I ever encountered was the roof on this one shitbox we were demo'ing...two sheets of 3/4" plywood, two layers of cedar shake shingles, tar paper, and 3 layers of asphalt shingles. Holy hell.

That came down using sawzalls with foot-long demo blades, in approximately 2-foot square sections.

Oh, and there's the time when they forgot to tell us that the plumbing we were taking down was all covered in asbestos insulation. That was cool. Got any of that in your place?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You dont know what plaster demo is like until you have to remove horsehair plaster that is from the 1800's. NASTY and makes such a mess.
Yep, know exactly what that is like, I did it today and summer 08 in my parents house.
My kitchen: lath and horsehair plaster first layer, wainscotting or masonite ceiling tile second layer, more wainscotting or veneer plywood third layer.
My bathroom: lath and horsehair plaster first layer, wainscotting second layer, drywall third layer, more wainscotting fourth layer
It was built in 1890, using real true-dimensional lumber.

My roof: 1 inch barn boards with 1 layer of cedar and 6-10 (seriously, it is 1.5 to 2 inches thick in places... well, was) layers of asphalt over it. I have been ripping it off with a 3 foot wrecking bar and my bare hands. Break the boards free with the wrecking bar then rip them off with the shingles still on em and toss the whole mess off the roof.

All my heating pipes are asbestos covered, about 170 lineal feet. They are getting taken out by the pros in a month or two. I want no part of that mess.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wet the asbestos down, and throw it in the neighbors trash

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Damn, that sucks. I'm out of ideas, sounds like the master to me. Try bench bleeding it in the jeep though, and hold it rotated axially so the ports are at the highest point on the cylinder. Gets the air out better.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's how my dad did it, just didnt rotate it. I think I'm going to grab the prop vavle from a zj and swap that in.

I was thoroughly confused and unhappily when I looked at my phone and it was about to turn 2am soon, then I picked it up 10 minutes later and it said 3am. I was like how the hell is it 3, I thought it was about to turn 2, what did I just do for the past hour?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Keith, my 99 XJ is doing the EXACT same thing.

My front caliper was sticking so Adam swapped those yesterday, and swapped in my spare 8 1/4 with disc brake setup (all new stuff Crown kit)...pedal pressure was spongey. Found the line from the prop valve toward the back was leaking/burst so he replaced that. STILL no pressure. I do feel a clunk in the pedal while pumping it so maybe the pushrod/master is f'd. :(

He wants me to do WJ master/booster to see if that does it.
