THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Otay. Im working on saturday, but if you wanted to come up on sunday for a bit thatd work fine...?
Jenn might kill me... but it's tempting. Outdoor or indoor?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Outdoor but if the weather's gonna be iffy we can use the range with a covered firing line. You could let her sleep in, come up here for like 9, shoot maybe 930-11 or something, and be home and have lunch with her, therefore giving her zero reason to be mad :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hmm... quite tempting. I don't have good ear & eye... do you have an extra set?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

When I'm not working on my XJ, there's always something else going on. My friend Wil who owns the shop I do most of this stuff at - and who jointly owns the flat trailer with me - recently discovered that the trailer was in need of some big-time TLC.

So we flipped it upside down and pulled it into the back shop, and cut the axles & spring hangers off. NBD.

This thing looks like a unibody beat to shit. 12 stress cracks and 2 rust holes through the main frame rails. Anything painted blue is where I sprayed trouble areas during the first look-over.

This is where the driver-side frame rail angles from the deck to the tongue:

Somewhere midway:

Another happy place:

At this point, my recommendation was to scrap it and put the scrap money + material cost towards a down payment on a new trailer. But he wants to fix it, so okay then. I made these frame plates over the last two nights...2x4x1/4 HR steel, with 15 1.5" holes each.

So far I've done 30 holes with that hole saw (Milwaukee), which wasn't new to begin with, and it's doin just fine. :D

I'm buying a new trailer anyway.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

And if you don't think I'm nuts yet (most of you probably do anyway), here's the other project.

Just pictures, no words; if you know what this is, you'll understand. :D

(Adam, you're not allowed to guess)

Funny thing is, that trailer pulls better than anything I've ever hauled, and it sees more miles per year than most people drive.

It was originally a 1964 enclosed trailer that we got for free because the box was rotting off it...we demo'd the box, laid a diamond plate floor on it, titled it homebuilt, and hauled its ass off for the last 6 years.

I'm still buying a new one though...aside from the structural aspect, I just want my own instead of a joint-venture.

And you're not far off on the booze-making...there are 4 5-gallon pails currently fermenting in the main shop. :D

The little trailer is our motorcycle hauler though...built on a early-70's Airstream camper frame. The camper was totalled in a rollover so we stripped it to the frame, added a front tire thing, called it good.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I saw the tire thing on the little trailer and guessed thats what it was for, not to mention the ideal size :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So far our fermenting buckets have been producing mad bubbles for almost a week now.

Water, corn meal, sugar, yeast.

Hopefully by the time the yeast dies out, we'll have the rest of it figured out. Got a few pieces to play with for now.
