THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What's stopping your jeep from wheeling right now?

Nothing...doesnt mean i dont crave a set of super awesome tires for a super awesome price!! But, instead of stuff for the jeep im going to give it all to the bank and own my car free and clear :-)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Chris, I think you missed it because I posted about it while you were out skiing, but I got my JL amp back after being serviced with a clean bill of health and a list of replaced components. The signal it's sending sounds nice and clean and all the signal filtering works. That thing really pumps out power.

Smart. I'm throwing my returns at the small amount of debt I have landed myself in.

What did they replace in it?

Ha, not even close, but the # that's left is a lot more manageable than it looked like a little while ago. I've been putting a fair amount more than my monthly minimum each month. Same with the bike. I'm tempted to pay the bike off all at once. It feels wrong having a loan on a toy. I did it mostly to build credit and I didn't have the cash for it at the time.

I'm not sure. I got a list of the components by PN. I guess I could google them and see what I come up with. There were several multiples and 5-7 line items (don't remember exactly). JL packs their amps so full of circuitry that I didn't want to bother with it. I don't have much experience soldering to a circuit board and I didn't want to start with a project like this. I'm fine with treating it as a black box that makes my sub sound nice, for now. I've got enough other things to worry about.

Yeah, but i have an underlying motivation...the sooner i own the car, the sooner ill let myself start seriously shopping for a tow rig. Speaking of which:

If anyone comes across a 96-98 cummins, 4wd 5spd, ext cab with zero rust, let me know :) pretty much everything else im open minded about. Though i guess for the right price id go for a regular cab. I think ill have the car paid off and be good to go in maybe 2 months

I approve

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I knew you would :) and when i was saying yesterday on the phone that id need to wait til end of summer, that was before i knew my tax returns will only be a couple hundred short of paying the car off completely, which i didnt expect. Soo, that just moves my timetable up a bit :D

If it comes down to it, i dont mind waiting til july to do the cage if it would mean i could tow to pa in june with my own truck hehe

Good luck. :D

Hah. Fwiw, i wouldnt mind traveling to get it. Probably wouldnt be able to swing california, but down south, carolinas, tennesee, etc would be ok most likely. And as much as i hate cumminsforum, some nice trucks pop up on there not infrequently.

http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/2...998-2500-12v-short-bed-quad-cab-4x4-5spd.html

The flatbed and bumpers kill the one in MS, and the other is real nice looking but in CA :( both are priced a little high, but those are low miles for 12v's in good shape

Also, by" zero rust" what i really mean is "not a rotbox" haha

what part numbers? As long as they are actual manufacturer part numbers not JL stock numbers I can probably tell you at least what they do, and possibly what their function in the amp is.

So...in moving my battery to the bed of the MJ I kind of want a box to keep the elements off of it.

Do I need to bother with a sealed unit? I can get a cheapo battery box (not sealed) from Summit for like $10.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Mine's been fine with one of the marine boxes.
Yeah, pick on of those up at a boat shop cheap and then make a sturdy mount inside that.

You don't want it completely sealed anyway it is a battery and it needs a vent.
