THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

UPS is going to hate you the day those boxes get dropped off.

I'm going to own half of the crap in the back of the truck.

The driver knows I always get "jeep stuff" and helps me unload it.

I can't imagine how much shipping would have been on all that crap.

Just reserved a spot for some company training in Germany at the beginning of June.

The class is Monday-Wednesday...my boss asked how much extra time I wanted to spend over there, as apparently the city it's in is real nice in the summer, has some pretty cool bars, etc.

Hmm.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think it would have to depend on what part of Germany.

And I know how much you guys like talking about cooking. (and by 'you guys' I mean maybe Bill and Anthony)

This is my next slow-cooker experiment, gonna start it Friday night and finish Saturday:

Got the biggest pork shoulder I could find that'd fit in my cooker, we'll see how it turns out.

I'd probably use a handfull of days, maybe up to a week. I mean, how often do you get to go to Germany?

My friend at work said that's where Porsche's HQ is...?

I'll ask my grandmother if there's anything neat. My mom said she knows the area.

I'm probably going to take at least a day to tour our own factory. To put it in perspective, we build and ship a few hundred motors a year out of here, in addition to what we bring in complete from Germany. They're doing anywhere between 2500-5000 motors a week at our main plant.

Are the motors hand wound still? I can't imagine they are...

If we need something special done - an oddball voltage or power rating - those are still hand-wound. Production runs are machine-wound though. Here's a shot of one of our winding stations...

That's cool.

And that machine looks like it can get sh*t done fast.

We have a few Haas lathes and mills in our shop here that are really impressive to watch. One of them can turn 5' long, 30" dia cylinder. (Nevermind the huge old manual American in the back.)
